btw, we are all obviously enjoying Madrid's thrashing last night, but I think it means that there is even less room for error tonight. We simply can't afford to lose. Not just for the sake of La Liga's reputation in Europe, but also for this club individually. To go out in the Round of 16 to Lyon would be quite embarrassing after all the good football and record-breaking earlier in the season, and the laughing at Madrid in the past couple of weeks.

We cannot go out to night, we must bring back some respect to la liga, i hope Kun and Forlan can do something amazing tonight as well, unlikely though it is.

Barca's vice-president Jaime Ferrer confirmed the club were considering their options with a new goalkeeper high on the agenda.

He said: "Of course, we have been discussing new signings, and it is no secret that the goalkeeper is not our strongest link at the moment."

Who the f@ck told him it's ok to make such statements publicly Grr
Always support your players on the outside, esp. executive suits who have no idea about the sporting issues of the club. And esp. during the season with key games coming up. During the off-season and transfer market is a different issue.

But look it on the bright side. Maybe is a good thing to put some pressure on VV.
He thinks that he's place is vetoed and cause he is a domestic school kid that he is untouchable.
Every single player must understand that if he doesn't perform on the highest level, he can be replaced by someone else. VV needs to feel that because he has cost us some valuable points lately. And what makes it even worse is that no matter what he do, he will still get the starting place in the team.
This will make him think a little bit about that.

he is trying to put some fire under VV ass, if Sanchez was old enough he would have kicked VV out of the team already.

We must buy i keeper in the summer, Must.

I agree with that, but that is already being done in a more subtle way by repeatedly leaking rumours of talks with Asenjo, and by delaying Valdes' contract renewal talks.

No, it may well be true...but it won't happen. Chelsea won't sell, and to spend more than 10m on any keeper is stupid.

112 already! And Benitez keeps jacking off to Liverpool's 119 in the *entire* season last year, with them even playing more games thanks to the Carling Cup.

Anyway, glad we got through that with such a good display. Now after the Almeria game we have a free week for the first time in over 2 months. Will be a good rest for the players head of the quarterfinal.

btw, anyone noticed who f@cked up (ok, I don't blame him as much for the first one) for both Lyon goals? Whistle
We're definitely not winning the CL with defending like that, conceding sloppy goals out of absolutely nothing.

Also worth noting how the team has stepped up to cover Messi's drop in productivity in the past few weeks...he's still producing good moments and coming up with good goals, but not completely bossing a game like he did from September-January. Could be in part due to fatigue, but also because every opponent is now double or triple teaming him. But with Henry really improving and showing a great attitude, and Iniesta's return, we now have other outlets to create goals.

Great night of football, especially the first half. I can't believe how bad Lyon played that first half, absolutely like a team from some minor league.
We have to work out to defend from the set pieces. Something ta which we were good in the first half of the season, now it's our weakness. Their first goal was a further evidence of that. Maybe with Puyol back or defence will consolidate, but i'm affraid that against teams like MU, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern, we will suffer.
Anyway, i enjoyed our display. The squad needed a game like this when they can recover the confidence that they lost some weeks ago. Now it's up to us to grab the 3 points against Almeria, and pray that RM suffer another defeat.

I think most people's view of him has changed, not just because he's scoring goals, but his football and attitude too. His fitness this season is good which allows him to get quality playing time and build his rhythm and sharpness.

Guardiola has also explained the system well to him, and during matches the front 3 keep rotating, so he gets to combine his role with Arsenal of roaming on the left, with his role for France as a central striker. And most of all, he's stopped moaning and is just getting on with it.

(he scored only 2 btw Wink )
