before the match Rafa thought Liverpool had no chance to win tie
so he left him out
he had no idea chelsea would be that poor in the first half
i bet he regrets leaving gerrard out now.

I was saying it before this tie and neither match has done anything to change my mind basically. Just after Aurelio messes up a good chance, he gets a lucky break when Reina makes his first fuck up of the season. Ivanovic who would never normally play scoring two headers at Anfield is 100% Hiddink style luck as well. They deserved it, but these were huge, huge turning points that had nothing to do with Hiddink. I'm just saying they could easily win the whole thing because of his luck.
That's exactly what Man Utd did last year.
And AC Milan the year before, and Barcelona the year before that and Liverpool the year before that, Porto the year before that etc...
Gets kinda boring doesn't it?

Wasnt he on the bench for the Blackburn game though?
What happened? Made it worse training?

It's not often people are so very very wrong but when this draw was made everyone was saying what a bore fest it was going to be and if we haven't done anything else, i'm glad we've shown that football isn't just tactics. Because that was fantastic attitude, spirit, hard work and commitment tonight and I am very proud of Liverpool.
We just never gave up, Alonso epitomised this football club tonight but in the end it was just too much even for us.
Credit to Chelsea again, they got themselves back into it when the impotus was well and truly with us after the first half and Drogba had a great game despite perhaps a lack of proffesionalism at times...
Great game, we'll always remember this one. Wasn't our year but 6 games left in the league and we will fight until the very end.
When Real madrid won in 02 we were simply awesome in every single game and clearly deserved to win every game.S4P wrote:BoBo Vieri 32 wrote:S4P wrote:BoBo Vieri 32 wrote:Six wrote:Super Madrid wrote:How as that win lucky? I can't think of the last time a team won the competition without having that slice of luck.

I think after this 2 legged tie we can safely say that:
DROGBA > torres
...and a pretty goal against Blackburn ain't gonna change that !
DROGBA
Eto'o=Adebayor=Torres
All others.

I think like today shows they have a more realistic chance of the league so they are saving him.

Don't know about that but he has with amazing speed become a very good striker who can be relied on. Still think Drogba/Villa/Eto is better then Torres/Ade.Cirque du Barcelona wrote:Ray Parlour wrote:Those are the top 4 strikers no doubt. Order is debatable though.
In the future (and by that I mean next season) Pato will be better then all of them.

Messi will be judged a lot on this game.
yeah. Imagine the psychological boost of bringing him on (even if half-fit) at 2-2, instead of Riera - or, if they'd manage to hold off - at 4-3 ahead, instead of Babel. Still if carrying an injury, maybe it was just too much of a risk.borocooper wrote:Ray Parlour wrote:borocooper wrote:Ray Parlour wrote:borocooper wrote:Missed alot of the game..why was Gerrard not even on the bench? Fair enough..bit mad not even having him on the bench though..
