Andrej is miles ahead of anybody despite playing far less matches.

It's bizarre only Arsenal were in for him for that price really. I mean Berbatov 32 mill Arshavin what 12? It's ridiculous.

He's actually has one assist in CL (HOME to Real - check your source if it says 2)

Considerably more than 12, otherwise a lot more clubs would have been in for him.

You shouldn't judge a player on 6 matches in a 3 month period.

If you would have watched Arshavin over recent years, you should have noticed he's a great player. I saw him play the tiles off the roof (very well) in quite a few big matches.

Have a look at link I provided Pierre. It says 2 assists.

I dunno how it works but I'd define "a chance" as any situation that leads to a goal scoring opportunity. "A goal scoring opportunity" can probably be measured by the amount of shots on/off target etc

Btw You were wrong thinking Wenger wasn't going to sign him and he'll prove u wrong with his performances for Arsenal. Still remember this?:

I don't think Wenger would have him if he was offered for free.

He is nearing his peak and is regarded as one of the finest players around - leaving Wenger with no excuse for failure.

    Think about it.

Don't care what we paid for him, but imo we should have concluded the deal Jan 1st (even if that meant a few extra Ms) & we could have well played a few less 0-0s & still be in the title race.

Think we paid 12m + another 3m performance based or something.

I remember Advocaat saying during the negotiation we didn't just know what a good footballer Arshavin was and we were paying far less than his worth. Can't find the quotes.

He said it when the deal was done.

He's obviously a brilliant player and I was gutted at the time that Comolli fucked about with the deal when Arshavin and his agent were interested in coming to us, conveniently leaving the door open for Arsenal to swoop in. Saboteur! Grr

Lets face it, Arshavin was 27 when he left Zenit and was interested in Spurs & Arsenal.

27 and he has the choice of Spurs or Arsenal !

Does that sound like a top player ?

A top player at that age would move to Barca, Real, Chelsea, Milan or Inter.

He's only played in a handful of big games and he is this month 2 years shy of 30.

I think Shevchenko's place as the greatest player to come from the old USSR since the break up is hardly under threat.

Kas says in the opening post of this thread that Barca were the first to make an offer for Arshavin

I'm absolutely gutted that he's not a Barcelona player
We were the first ones to make a proper bid for him, but didn't realise his value and didn't offer more than 15m (initial bid which was put in the day after Russia-Holland in Euro 2008). Instead we bought Hleb

Even in January when Zenit finally agreed to Arsenal's demands Txiki should perhaps have gone in and made another offer around that price, even though Barça don't really need another player in the squad this season, thanks to the players' fitness holding up.

But they didn't think he was worth what Arsenal paid.

Barca could have done with him TBF to sort out the left attacking position which is been such a problem for them in these last 2 seasons...

...incidentally, in 8 years how many Premiership goals did Henry score from open play at Anfield ?

I'm not 100% sure but I think its 4 less than Arshavin has scored.

have you been watching Barca this season?

Incidentally, what we paid Zenit was pretty much the same as what Barca offered (£15mil) .
