They should go for Boruc - his biggest supporter in Glasgow Strachan is no longer Celtic manager and I think it's finally time for Boruc to move, he definitely needs a new challenge. And with his shot stopping ability (including being great in defending 1 on 1 situations) he would be perfect for La Liga.

Inler and Mbia are definitely quality players... but it also would mean that Sevilla still would lack a creativity in midfield centre, still would rely heavily attacking wise on linking up plays by Kanoute or work done by their wingers. And in post-Dani Alves life it proved for them to be quite a challenge.

    Sergio Asenjo, fichado

David Villa & Silva Should Join Real Madrid Before Barcleona - Morientes
If Los Che do have to sell any of their big names then one player already leaving wants them to join his former club...

Fernando Morientes has revealed that he would prefer to see both David Villa and David Silva go to Real Madrid ahead of Barcelona if they are sold by Valencia in the summer.

The veteran striker played his last game for los Che on Saturday evening and while he exits on a free transfer, the club are planning ways of raising finances to ease the financial problems.

Selling both Villa and Silva has been mooted for months and the pair have been linked with several clubs, but Morientes knows where he would prefer they went.

"David Villa and David Silva? I'd prefer that they remain both here, but if I had to choose between Real Madrid and Barcelona, of course I hope that they go to Madrid," he told the Spanish media.

Morientes, who is reported to have been a Barcelona fan as a child, has yet to agree a deal with a new club, but he has been linked with a return to Real Zaragoza.

The Aragonese outfit are on the verge of a return to the top flight and while he has previously stated he could be interested, he was not ready to given any clues away this time.

"I have received some great offers and we will see what will be the most attractive," he continued.

"I have had three wonderful years here and I have received respect and affection from fans outside the ground."

Well, there's going to be some Betis players for sale now: Juanito's already signed with Atletico. Emana, Oliveira, Sergio Garcia, Damia...all decent players who should be able to find another club.

I wonder if that Arab sheikh still wants to buy them Whistle

In terms of managerial vacancies, Villarreal and Atletico are going to be the 2 "big" clubs in Spain with spots open. Valverde, Laudrup are possibilities, and perhaps even Tapia of Malaga, who announced his resignation yesterday. Marca had earlier mentioned that Villarreal would hire Manzano of Mallorca.

There seems to be some movement for Atletico to keep Abel Resino. Not sure if that is a good idea or not. Manzano, I would think, be a possible candidate for both Atletico and Villarreal (as Marca suggest). Valverde could be in the discussion. Also Victor Fernandez possibly as I don't think he's doing anything at the moment.

    And another opening:

Meanwhile, Michel signs on with Getafe for a further two seasons.

If they are getting someone decent for cheap then they may as well wrap it up early and focus on the more difficult targets. But we have a lot of defenders already, so yeah, this would be a bit of a strange signing.

Still three matches to go...Xerez need just a point to ensure promotion so they are close. Tenerife and Zaragoza are in 2nd and 3rd respectively; Hercules still has an outside shot of getting one of the places but they'd have to make up 5 pts minimum.

Zaragoza have actually been linked with a lot of players: Fernando Morientes, Bojan Krkic, among others if they do end up getting back to the top flight.

Valverde the big favourite for the Villarreal job now.

Aragones has been sacked by Fenerbahce. If Atletico's board have any sense, surely they'll bring him back and not renew Abel? Esp. if Marca's claim is true:

Where did that come from? I wasn't aware of any animosity between the two? scratch

Fuck Laudrup better get in there for christ sake allthough he can always wait 6 months for the Atletico/Real job to open up. Erm

    EDIT:

Ernesto Valverde Named As The New Villarreal Coach
Villarreal have moved quickly to replace Manuel Pellegrini and have gone for another under-rated trainer...

Ernesto Valverde has been appointed as the new coach of Villarreal after Manuel Pellegrini left to take over at Real Madrid, the club has announced.

The 45-year-old will be presented to the media on Wednesday after agreeing a one-year deal at El Madrgial, with the option of another if both parties agree.

After enjoying success in la Primera with Athletic Club de Bilbao and Espanyol, Valverde opted to move to Greece where he steered Olympiacos to the league title and Greek Cup last term.

Despite that, the Athens-based outfit decided not to renew his contract and Villarreal made their move after seeing Pellegrini tempted by the challenge at Real Madrid.

During his time with Espanyol, Valverde led the Catalan outfit to the UEFA Cup final in 2007 and had them in the top four for half the season the following term before a dramatic downturn in form saw them finish in mid-table.

His reputation was not dented though and the trainer was linked with several high profile posts in Spain, including Sevilla, before choosing to try his luck in Greece.

Valverde will face a tough task in maintaining Villarreal's position among the top clubs in Spain and his first job could be to stop Pellegrini from trying to take any of his stars to Real Madrid.
