Yeah, I hope so.... but the swedes just need 1 win to go thru, and they ve home advantage. Italy's next game is with them, and the azzurini need a win... else they could go out the same way they went out last time...
I thought that there was more quality in this game than Azzurri's game with USA yesterday!!!! Just confirms whta I have been sayng for a while, even young Bocchetti >>>>>>> Legrotaglie!!

I doubt it, as it was reported that Liajic? & Tosic cost a combined total of £18m. Unless Liajic alone cost 15M?

Under-21 Championship Player Ratings: Italy 0-0 Serbia
Italy and Serbia played out an entertaining goalless in their opener at the Under-21 European Championships tonight and Goal.com was on hand to rate all the performers...
ITALY
Consigli 6.5 - Made one great reflex stop in the second-half to deny Tomovic but aside from that he had little to do.
Motta 7.0 - Determined and committed performance who ran hard and didn't give Sulejmani much time and space on the ball.
Andreolli 7.5 - Very strong at the back and a key reason why the Serbians had so few clear cut chances.
Bocchetti 7.5 - Like his partner in the middle of defence Bocchetti was impressive and didn't give Kacar many sights of goal.
Criscito 6.0 - Had a mixed evening as he was beaten by Tosic a few times down the flank but kept on battling hard.
Cigarini 7.0 - Protected the back four well and also made some nice passes, including the delightful one over the top for Giovinco.
Marchisio 6.5 - Showed his class at times throughout the match but unfortunately for Italy he couldn't have a defining impact on proceedings.
De Ceglie 6.5 - Decent job playing behind the front men, able to not only get forward but also help out in defence.
Giovinco 6.5 - Difficult to rate because whilst he was the best attacking player for Italy, he also missed the best chance and it was a glorious one too with just Brkic to beat.
Balotelli 5.5 - Disappointing display from the Inter Milan youngster, doubled up on by the Serbian defence and showed his frustration when he was booked for kicking the ball away.
Acquafresca 6.0 - Had a few decent sights of goal and perhaps should have done better with a couple of headers that he either sent wide or at the goalkeeper.
SUBS
Abate 6.0 - Did a decent job but didn't really add much to the team.
Pisano 6.0 - Showed a few good touches but came on late and couldn't change things.
SERBIA
Brkic 7.0 - Tested more than his opposite number this evening but looked solid and didn't let anything past him.
Tomovic 7.0 - Did well against Balotteli down the flank and never really let him run at goal.
Vukovic 7.0 - Just like the Italian centre-backs he was strong and commanding, but the only criticism would be the defending from set-pieces at times was slack at times.
Pejcinovic 7.0 - Another defender who was solid and didn't really give the opposition forwards too much to aim at.
Petkovic 7.5 - Looked very impressive down the left flank both in his own half and also in the oppositions.
Smiljanic 6.5 - Sat in front of the back line and did well to break up the Italian plays, especially in the second-half.
Fesja 6.5 - Helped to not only defend but also distribute the ball, which he was good at most of the time.
Tosic 7.0 - One of the best players for Serbia this evening as he constantly tested the Italian defence with his running and linked up well with the other front men.
Matic 7.0 - Tireless display from the front man who seemed to always be available whenever his team were in possession.
Sulejmani 6.0 - Not the best of the attacking line for Serbia, mainly because he didn't have much joy against the Italian defence.
Kacar 7.0 - Considering he was played out of position as a striker this evening, the Herta Berlin man did a fine job and his bicycle kick that hit the post was the highlight of the match.
SUBS
Tomic 6.0 - Only came on late and didn't have much of an impact.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, who made a personal plea on Tosic’s
behalf at his work-permit hearing in Sheffield, regards the pair as players
of outstanding potential, with Tosic, a full international, regarded as a
potential long-term successor to Ryan Giggs. Under the terms of the deal,
United have agreed to pay Partizan a maximum of £16.3 million if the players
meet certain pre-identified targets, but the up-front payments will be
considerably smaller.

germany is now clearly favourite for the tournament, after the impressive display against spain
holla germany will win the treple (u17,u19,u21 champions)
there is no doubt that germany has the most talented side in the tournament, only the lack of strikers makes me worried, but for the A-team we dont have this problem, so its not really a problem, only for this tournament

We are looking quite bad.
Our defence has been solid so far, but we are losing the ball far too easily right now. Especially our midfielders need to step up.

Re: UEFA EURO U21 Championships
I saw the first half of the Germany vs. Finland match, and I've just tuned into the second half now, after its first five minutes - Castro has just gone on a good run but his final ball was cut out on the edge of the Finnish area. The first half was incredibly sloppy I thought, especially from Germany - their passing was awful, and it was disappointing how little Marin and Ozil saw of the ball; Marin was really hugging the touchline, but Germany's defensive players seemed far too reluctant to play the ball wide first time. Finland kept the ball a bit better, but whenever they tried to break or play a direct pass, it went astray.
Howedes has just headed in from an Ozil free-kick. 1-0.
