I tend to think goals need goalscorers. Now if you had someone like, say, Hunterlaar up there to put away all these created chances, then you might be onto something Wink

To be perfectly honest, that's what always spoke against a Huntelaar to Spurs transfer, it's too early. The Hunter needs to fail in Milan also before Spurs get serious, actually increase their bid and eventually sign him for €30m.

Looks like TS will have a lucky escape, as he's going to sign for Milan soon for 15m euros Sad

And we can't even rely on him to prove TS wrong, because Milan are probably too weak to mount a serious title challenge. So even if he scores loads of goals, there'll be enough cause/effect confusion for TS to be able to continue his bandwagon.

Kas, no need for despair. There's plenty of time for Huntelaar to come to Spurs later. Even if he goes to Milan now he can always fulfil his lifelong ambition to play for Spurs later when he is older and slower. I have it on reliable authority that the chance to impress TS was not quite high enough on his list of priorities, but that he will be following the team he supported as a boy until he fulfils his dream. Wink

If he scores loads of goals in a weak side that will prove that he is a clinical striker and if Spurs don't have the option of such a player that could bite them. They may well regret it. Not saying he should start at Spurs, but they need such an option just in case they play pretty football without scoring and TPFEG seems like a wonderful achievement.

Huntelaar probably wouldn't be a bench warmer if he had gone to Spurs, but the point remains that not having the option of a goal-scorer even on the bench - not necessarily Huntelaar - is silly.

Defoe is about the only striker that has been fit in pre-season. Not sure about Crouch, but Pavluychenko and Bent had injurires and Keane wasn't 100%. What's the plan if Defoe picks up an injury?

The others should get enough goals between them, but I'd expect Defoe to be top scorer amongst them.

Isn't Crouch also likely to get alot of Goals. Can't remember the head to head but Crouch and Defoe were neck and neck (with Defoe taking penalties I think).

I want to see a Crouch, Pav partnership. Just to see how it works out

I know what you mean but i'm pretty sure when it comes down to it their strikers will score. It's never good to read too much into pre-season. As I've sais Spurs are like Arsenal in the sense that they never have a problem scoring. It's the goals that are being shipped in the other end that should be the cause for concern.

I'm not even thinking of pre-season; simply having plenty of options. The more you have the better your prospects are to cater for emergencies. Also the fact that Pavluychenko doesn't exactly have Redknapp's confidence doesn't bode well.

By the way TS: spoke to Gomes after the Wembley Cup. If you're interested in what he had to say let me know and I'll send on what Huntelaar Gomes had to say.
