I think someone (edit: EM La Liga) in the other thread mentioned Gomez and Ibrahimovic.
Another one is Luis Suarez.

Looks like this will just be a Totti and Ibra bashing thread.

The problem is that you never watch them play to begin with...

I didn't see much of him. It's just an observation. I'll be seeing more of him this season and hopefully he changes my perception.

Haven't been impressed from what I've seen of him so far. That would include the games against Chelsea and the Confederations Cup.

this is part of the entire problem and the question I am posing. People that watch this kind of players all the time think they are brilliant, but then other posters that watch an occasional game can be left wondering what's so special about them.
Same with some players in Holland. It is easy enough to look a world beater in the Eredivisie but I usually only see the European games of these teams and then they almost always disappoint.

We get a lot of German football overhere, yet you lot wont see any Dutch football. So hence the opionion of Dutch people is always the most important! When a Germans says: ''Oohh that Marin and Gomes are so awesome'' it aint worth much, could be bias!

Seen him look alright but not quite why he's rated as one of best DMs around.

Same with Henry aswell.

First, the Bundesliga is not the Eredivisie. Second, what "Europe" are you talking about? CL or UEFA Cup? Because more than often enough, the quality of the team is simply not good enough to compete, mostly for financial reasons, so what sense does it make to single out certain players? Does Stuttgart have a realistic chance against Barcelona, for example? Thought so.
And what about international matches? Do you watch them? If yes, do you acknowledge positive performances there also, or only the negative ones when it comes to German players?
Those players who get a lot of praise have proven themselves repeatedly, unless we are talking about Otto hype here. Marin was one of the top assisters of the league, playing for a relegation candidate, and it wasn't even a good season of his. Özil was the best player of the last U21 Euros, was one of the best Werder players in all competitions last season, including Europe. German youth teams have won all three European titles (U17, U19 and U21), unprecedented in history, so there may be some promising players amongst them, no?
In 99% of the cases, people rate (or rather don't rate) players who they don't have the slightest clue about. That is a fact toon.

Has he ever put one WC performance in any of these matches? I doubt it.Parks lives wrote:debaser wrote:De Rossi.

Seen him easily over 10 times now and he's ranged from decent to absolute ordinary.

Henry is a weird case. He didn't play in a team that was as technically astute up until now and it is evident for most to see that he is past it.
Henry 4 seasons back in that Barca team would have been a different story.
