That was the asking price Bat man. Statement this morning saying they wont budge, agreement recieved this evening suggests that Real hav met it.

Marca speculating that the price is €30m, they've been v accurate all summer long with regards to Real's transfers.
But still yet to be confirmed offically.

£30m is a good amount for Xabi, we should be able to get a good replacement with that. Sad to see him go

£30million is a lot of money for Alonso...£80million was a lot for Ronaldo. Whatever the fee was for these players both teams will be weaker without them because you can't replace the best with better players.

£50m is a lot of money, especially for a player who was essentially holding us back, IMO he was the reason we didn't win the league in the last 20 years. Without him pulling the strings that drag us down we will be 100% EPL title winners every year from now on.

It's 30 million Euros according to the Real Madrid website. A good deal in my opinion given how much we need Xabi.

Real Madrid official website doesn't mention any fee
English version just says a deal has been agreed, Spanish version has some faggy faux romantic bio of him as though his whole life was just passing time until he could move to Madrid.
El Real Madrid C. F. y el Liverpool F. C. han alcanzado un acuerdo para el traspaso de Xabier Alonso Olano (Xabi Alonso). El jugador viajará a Madrid para pasar el pertinente reconocimiento médico.
no mention of 30 million euros. I'm guesing it was closer to 50

so £25m?
i believe that.
"Liverpool Football Club this evening confirmed they had reached agreement for the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, subject only to a medical.
The terms of the deal will remain confidential and undisclosed. "

If Liverpool got the money they wanted then why make the deal undisclosed?
Man Utd, Milan and Lyon didn't do this.

When I first saw the article in the Madrid website it said 30 million, but it's not there anymore. In the Liverpool website it says that the fee will remain confidential, so it may just be that Liverpool do not want it out in the open that they finally gave in. It could be the other way around but I get the feeling that Liverpool were the ones who caved in.

That's what I was thinking. Xabi Alonso had also been putting a lot of pressure on the club with the transfer request while Madrid was setting up deals with other players. I'm guessing that Benitez also wanted this sorted out so they could move for Aquilani asap.

why do you get this feeling?
Yesterday Liverpool said pay the asking price or fuck off, today a deal is agreed. Sounds to me like Real Madrid were the ones who caved in.

First of all, the Liverpool website was the one which stressed that the fee would remain "undisclosed and confidential". Second, Madrid was setting up deals for players like Delfour to put pressure on Liverpool while Alonso handed a transfer request. And given that Liverpool were willing to sell Alonso for 20 million Euros last year, 30 million couldn't possibly look like a bad offer. After trying to pawn Real Madrid for more during a few weeks, it made sense to finally cave in.

Strange logic mate. We didn't have to give in. We were the ones who wanted to keep him and Alonso had said he was just waiting to see where he was playing next season

Liverpool should stick to English / British players. It always the same with those bloody foreigners, they all want to go home one day. At least you can be sure that the islanders will never leave the island.

I don't recall the official Liverpool site ever saying anything bar "undisclosed" for any transfer.
Happy to be corrected.
