@ronnie's teeth: I think that was a "club" signing, not a specific request by Guardiola. A RB was needed anyway, so why not go for the best one out there at the time. Alves was signed pretty early in summer 2008.

yep maxwell has looked shakly, he could play against the lesser teams in the league. for everyone else its Abidal

Thought Pique and Chrgy... looked pretty solid considereing they havnet had long at all together. Must be quite a lot of pressure on Chrygy coming from Shaktar straight to the current Barca and starting ahead of Puyol straight away

Sport was saying that Puyol and his agent arent happy with him being benched

So an easy win in the end, as we all expected. But the performance wasn't actually that good. Lots of lost balls, poor passes, and a laidback attitude. All mostly thanks to the very early first goal. Anyway, I guess it's good they saved some energy for the upcoming tough schedule featuring midweek games.

Chygrinskiy had a good debut in terms of his defensive work (he's a bit slow though ), but still needs to work with the rest of the team on playing within the unit. Atletico's 2nd goal would have been avoided if the offside trap had been applied properly (was a horrible kick from Valdes too).

If I was an Atletico fan, there's obviously a lot of things to worry about. But something quite noticeable today was just how disinterested Forlan was. At least Aguero and the wingers got involved in the play and worked to create something when they could...did Forlan even touch the ball apart from his goal?

Atletico were sh!t today in every aspect. They've got Almeria (also sh!t) at home next week but then it's away to Valencia and away to Porto in CL.

Yep Chygrinskiy, looks on the slow side and his reading of the game doesn't seem of an high enough standard to over come that, like marquez when on form.

but when ever we were defending at the top of out 18 yards, He looked solid and his passing his great.
