    Its time to do this poll again. Same rules - name your World squad of 23 players, with the following break-up:

    3 Goal Keepers
    7 Defenders
    7 Midfielders
    6 Strikers

    The idea is that if you were the coach of the "World", which players would you pick... The further break up into CBs, FBs, DMs, wingers, etc ic completely up to you.

    We will use the results to come up with the EB World Class squad of 23 at the end of it, just like we did in 2007.

    Any particular reason for 7-7-6, apart from the fact that most people would want as many strikers as possible in there? 8-8-4 would be more conventional...even if Messi and Ronaldo suddenly become midfielders in most people's opinion Razz

    Last time we did 8-7-5, which many people thought was too defensive and players like Ronaldo/Totti/Messi came up in the midfield section. This time I changed it coz I now think of Messi, Ronaldo, Dinho, Totti, etc as strikers. Kaka could be a midfielder.

    But I would like it to be kept open to interpretation. People may have differing idea's on the construction/classification of players, and thats fine. 7-7-6 will be the format of the final squad, just to give it some structure.

    My Squad (might make a change or two after thinking some more):

    GKs: Buffon, Cesar, Cassillas
    Defenders: Samuel, Nesta, Vidic, Carvalho, Maicon, Evra, Alves, Chivu
    Midfielders: Mascherano, Essien, Cambiasso, Xavi, Kaka, Ribery, Gerrard
    Strikers: Ibrahimovic, Drogba, Messi, C Ronaldo, Eto'o, Rooney

    Edit: Vidic OUT, Chivu IN.

    Chivu can be the back up for Evra, and even Essien when required, that goes in his favour.

    I guess Kaka could be there instead of Mascherano or Fabregas, but I didn't think of him too much because as you said, he's not been the same for around 2 years now.

    Ibrahimovic will make it easily if he proves something in the big games with Barça this season. That remains my only doubt on him...it's pending from his time at Inter, and so far the fixtures haven't given him a proper chance to prove his choker tag as false. We can only properly evaluate him in May 2010.
