Who is it for you?
For me, its between Shevchenko and Aquilani. Knee jerk, perhaps, but he's been crocked for most the time, and when he has played, he's looked horribly average.

Arshavin and Nasri aren't bad players, they just aren't anywhere near as good as the hype.
Vermaelen is astonishingly average.
Arsenal's worst flop signing of recent times is Walcott or Rosicky.
However, for once I'm siding with the popular view and saying Shevchenko. He was fucking rubbish in this league, even worse than Berbatov has been for Man U.
Parks lives wrote:Shevchenko is obviously the big stand out.
Plus players like Babel, Nani & Berbatov haven't come close to proving their value.
However just checked and Zhirkov has played one league game this season and he cost £18 million pound! Not sure if that's a flop but it's just ridiculous.

What makes you say that?

4 years ago £21m would buy you a first choice striker, now it's the price of the 4th most expensive forward at Man City and he's possibly 6th in line for a starting spot behind Benjani.

Yes Vermaelen. What exactly has he achieved yet? Diddly squat. Reyes contributed to our unbeatables season.
Aside from his assists, he scored 16 in 69 games - which isn't really that bad considering that he played a lot of games out on the left.
kas wrote:Oooh! Provocative thread title, rather than just "worst EPL signing of the noughties?" Harsh to include Aquilani though, he's only be around for about 4 months of the 'noughties'.
Has to be Shevchenko...huge price tag, huge reputation...hugely disappointing.

He was our top assister in his last season with us + scored a fair few too!
So far, Walcott, Rosicky, Eduardo, Vermaelen, Vela, Nasri and Aaron fucking Ramsey have been bigger flops than him.
