Ooooh! Messiah trying make Pepe look like a tactical innovator when really the 4-2-3-1 is just the same old 4-3-3 that I posted before. Biggrin

What's the lowdown on Abidal this season? Is he likely to offer much going forward tonight, or will most of the threat be down Alves' right hand side?

The Arsenal v FC Barcelona - Page 29 Lol , did realize you posted the XI already, my bad, if you don't realize the difference between the two formations, then your not the football mind i thought you were.

Besides that's the proper tactical set up, not the 4-3-3, stop miss leading the masses, we haven't play 4-3-3 in a while now.

Then maybe we should go 4-4-2

    --------Walcott---Bendtner

    Clichy---Silvestre--Verm---Sagna

Walcott to run at Marquez, and it would see Barca's plan on how to deal with Walcott thrown out of the window before kick off; 'fuck! we thought he was starting on the right, how are we going to deal with him now?'

He was one of our best performers before he got injured, offers very little in the attack, but helps to keep the back like in order when alves goes forward, by effectively turning into a 3rd CB.

    As I suspected Ale

That team still looks formidable even without Iniesta.

Messi in the centre should be interesting. I suspect Diaby will be tasked with marking him (Arsenal fans can correct me on this one). He's going to need to play considerably better than he did in the first game

Sounds good but its more crowded in the middle plus CB's are stronger than FB's and can block him off/outmuscle him very easily.

I've seen one of the slowest CB's in the history of football (Malky Mackay) wipe the floor with Walcott when he played CF.

We are going to score at least 3 goals tonight to be sure of progression, because marquez/busquets will give them a goal or two.

That's a good point, but with Barca's highline we should just look to play the ball into space(behind Marquez) for him to run into.

If we were playing a smaller side they'd sit deeper which would take out that option and he'd would be outmuscled by the bigger CBs as u say.

    Ale

Seen Walcott play in that position a few times for the England U21's, and he was easily contained. At least on the wing he can exploit the space behind the fullbacks. Against decent centrebacks they'll just stand off him and then shield the ball when he tries to knock it past him.

Saying that, those types of games are good for Theo - he needs to add to his armoury and not just rely on pace. As much as we love to take the piss out of him, I've seen glimpses of a very decent footballer on the odd occassion Ale

BTW i just read Sol and Rosicky are still doubts for the game, should we play them and risk losing them for the NLD? Mind u we have not been that lucky of late when gambling on player's fitness.

We can't afford anymore injuries, and i'd rather we get spanked by Baca than by Spurs.

I'd go into hiding if we got spanked by Spurs ok

Same here. As long as we get a performance I'm not fussed about the outcome. Losing to Barca is no disgrace and I'd rather not progress in the state we are in anyway. Focus on the league instead and see what we can do there.
