Three good games makes you World Class? ok ok ok

What 3 were you thinking of?
    Arsenal(Away) and Bayern (Home)

well thats two I was being nice by adding an extra game.

So two big games you saw. What about the other 15 you didn't watch where he was just as good? they don't count cos you didn't see them? Doh
    15 games? affraid affraid

    Name these 15 games

    Well
v Wigan away. United won 0-5 he scored and assisted
v Bolton away. United won 0-4 he assisted two of the goals
v Portsmouth home. United won 5-0 he assisted 2 of the goals
    v Fulham at home
    v Arsenal away
    v Bayern home
    v Milan at home
    v Spurs at home
    v Sunderland away
Off the top of my head i'll retrace and find more. Think he ended up with 16 assists and 5 goals for someone who missed 3 months of the season.
Wigan not sure. Against Bolton he was horrible apart from turning Ricketts inside and outside for Berbatov's goal,Milan at home he done nothing apart from an assist.

As for Tottenham and Sunderland games he scored in both games but his overall play was horrible so based on two bits of pieces Nani pulls off in a game it makes him World Class? Embarassed Embarassed

    Nani is MOTM vs Tottenham

and to fit this thread, he is a good penalty taker

only young lads with no experience to handle such a pressure situation, this could be the begin of the end of our penaltiy domination for decades, this will be in there heads and we will end like the englands SCARED

Ozil, you're a facking legd. This sentence is just awesome.

Kudos for giving it a go. I see an improvement in your English

    Well done.

As for this discussion on penalties,

I predict Lampard and Co. will RAPE all over the mannshaft at their own game in the 2nd round when England meet Germany.

It'll go down to penalties, and John Terry will score the winner. Low will be wearing a scarf. Basti fantasti will be crying. In that order Ale

you know this forum is the only thing were i use this language

From the squad we have I'd put the order something like:

    Lampard
    Barry
    Rooney
    Gerrard
    Milner
    A.Cole
    Baines
    Defoe
    Johnson
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Hart
    James
    Green
    Heskey

We've got a few who take pens for their club, but I'm still never going to feel confident with an England shootout No

It's time the monkey on our backs was coaxed off with banana.

    Why should we fear penalties?

We make such a big deal of them that it's become almost a curse.

If we break the hoodoo this summer, it'll be a relief so as we no longer have to scrutinise the subject.

On paper, England's penalty takers are quite good. They just need to be confident when they step up!

I thought England had got that monkey off their back against Spain in Euro 96. Your first 5 penalties in the shootout in the semis were awesome, just a shame you came up against Germany.

Of course 'we' shouldn't, but it's whether the players can clear their minds and believe in themselves when they come to step up. Thinking of Gerrard and Lampard when they walked up in 2006, I don't know that they can.

As an England fan I don't know how you can not fear penalties. England have lost painfully on penalties in 50% of the tournaments I've seen! (1990, 1996, 1998, 2004, 2006)

Spot on - after beating Spain on pens in the previous round, that Euro 96 penalty shoot out against Germany, first 5 penalties there was nothing wrong with. It was the 6th, Southgate was a young central defender at the time, I wasn't suprised he bottled it. More disappointing to see this current generation having bought into the "fear" of taking penalties for England.

The first five penalties were excellent, not just "nothing wrong" with them. England would have beaten any other team on that day.

Indeed, of the first ten the only slightly dodgy one was Reuter's. Best shoot-out I've ever seen, by miles.

Good total for Green - who's pens has he saved ?

Doyle, Benjani, Defoe, Roberts, Ashley Young.

Young is poor, defoe is an awful penalty taker and none of the others are renowned pen takers - he's had a lucky streak Razz

He's a shit keeper anyway and shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

Yes but in a penalty shoot our you're not facing five world class penalty takers are you? You're facing one or two very good penalty takers and then three who probably fall into the Defoe category.
