Fairly simple to understand. Cl knockout rounds is the highest level you can play at as a footballer. Obviously the players who can't compete at the highest level can't be WC. If you dispute that Cl is the highest level then fair enough then it doesn't make sense but are you saying that?

Real Madrid hasn't had WC players for a while imo. The ones we have now are those that have proven it at other clubs(Kaka/Ronaldo/Alonso). Casilias is the exception that proves the rule.

In Ozil's case he has never really gotten the chance to play in the knock out rounds and when he does we will see. Schweinsteiger showed a lot last season but I was more impressed with Van Bommel. We will see this season how well he does but Schweinsteiger who is on the verge of becoming a WC player. I could understand if people would include him their list. Im just being a bit cautious until I see another Cl campaign.

BTW whats the news on Ozil? Rumours today suggest Fergie was at the Bremen game to watch him

no its not, the WC is highest competiton for an footballer, and every footballer besides the english one will tell you the same , there are garbage teams in the cl and in the WC, and the pressure in a WC is just the highest you can get

cl footy is way overrated, the group stages, the last 16 hardly a benchmark to become a big football player, it gets interesing in the semi finals, then the tacitcal view is the main point, and there is just no way a cl final or semi final cannot competete with a WC semi final or final

to say schweinsteiger is not world class is just an utter fail

Look at what I wrote again. The highest level is Cl but the biggest stage is the World Cup. The pressure is highest at the World Cup because it is once every 4 years and you represent your country.

BUT club football is better and I don't think I have to tell you why. The knockout rounds in Cl is the best level and the best way to judge a player as I see it. If you can't cut it at that level I don't you can be called WC.

Super, I am not so sure... I understand what you are saying, it does make sense, but when people make that sound like an absolute rule is when it becomes a bit silly... there always will be exceptions to the rule. Players like Zanetti (before last season) or Cafu never really set the CL alight, but they were clearly WC. The CL or the World Cup are just some of the best stages to prove your class...

Re Schweinstieger, he has more than proved himself in the CL and the WC in the last 12 months. IMO he is clearly WC as a CM, perhaps even more so than Masch or Cambiasso...

Apparently your favourite player is world class, just choose a competition in which they have done well and use that basis.

Gerrard for me, great player and beats up DJs (people who get paid for playing the "play" button on a media player).

Messi, Xavi etc are all ok, but haven't beaten up on a profession that I think worthy of a beating.
