Interesting stuff, eh? I think one thing we all will agree. There are more than 23 "world class" players out there... there is no way players like Toni, Gerrard, J Zanetti are not world class!!

Look at the midfielders though. Essien and Cambiasso are the only one's who can play defensively at all.

I guess what I wanted to prove is that the notion of defining "world class" as players who will make a world squad of 23 is a bit silly, coz surely there are more "world class" players in the world than that.

I should be more diplomatic, but the level of ignorance on this board, despite everybody on here being exposed to posters from all over the world, is CRIMINAL

To be fair Otto i remember very well at the time they had problems to admit some players not playing in the EPL can have talent.With the WC they learnt the modesty and we must say they are now more "neutral and fair"..But of course they still have a lot to learn...Some players in the list are jokes

Cannavaro - WPOTY, Ballon D'Or winner, best defender of the WC, etc could not make it over Gallas/Terry. Its ridiculous.

Zanetti, there is no explanation, except that people get too swayed by few current performances.... Alves getting the second highest number of votes, there is no way he makes the list over Zanetti.

Can't complain about the midfield, but players like gerrard, ballack, stankovic, nedved, etc are also world class in my book. Hence I DON'T agree with only calling these players world class.

He only got the WPOR because he played well at the WC.

I don't see how Zanetti deserves a place really. He's achieved a lot less than, say, Gary Neville - and people would laugh if he were included in the list.

Cannavaro's emission is hardly shocking either. Carvalho is a better player and didn't get in.

Toni I agree should be there. I wouldnt say any of "Ronaldo, Adriano, Crespo, Rooney, Tevez" are currently world class. Shevchenko has a much better shout than those.

i dont think you can these players world class yet. rooney still has to prove that he can play well with pressure and tevez just arrived this season to europe and he is just now performing. also im not sure crespo currently is world class. and trust me alves is great and he has been since last season but the thing is he has been even better this season. i rate Zanetti but this season i dont think he has been better then alves.

Inter may have achieved less than ManU, but that does not make Neville a better player than Zanetti.

Inter fans rate Zanetti at least equal to if not over Facchetti, he has been exceptional for Inter for over 10 years, and has been quite easily the best RB in the world during this period, only Cafu and Thuram coming close IMO.
