look at the chelea players, not a single one has reached the last 8 at the WC, most humiliated in the groupstage

where barca and bayern had 9-10 players in semifinal or final

me thinks chelsea cant really hold this form, would be better they have this form at the later stage of the season

Probably a bonus - less likely to be burned out after having no summer break!

It's a bit of a harsh criticism for some of them anyway..Drogba is the main man for a nation that has never made the last 8, Essien was injured, Lampard would've certainly have been in the QF if not for evil refereeing denying his beautiful goal, Anelka and Malouda were being managed by Domenech..

Back from the JJB and we have finally won there Very Happy the game started very slowly a lot of players slipping over and balls running too long cos of the greasy surface didnt halp but we got the crucial goal before half time. Then in the second we played pretty well, we were always in control and could have added another. Overall im happy to get the result it lifts us to 4th and comes after a good away win in the week. We have only conceeded 2 goals in the 5 league games and 3 clean sheets in the cup so we are looking solid, the only 2 goals we've conceeded were a last min pen and a terrible freak fuck up by Hart so its decent and im sure when Boateng, Kolarov and obviously more importantly Ade and Balotelli come back we will be better going forward.

Chelsea next week will be a v tough test but we can beat anyone at home so we will see.

Wigan looked terrible, they were totally toothless and look odds on to go down at this rate.

Only about 15k at the JJB today and 6k were from Manchester wont help the team at all. Also worryingly for them they have played 4 out of their 5 games at home....althought the win at spurs might suggest their tactics will work better away...but i doubt it.

All good thanks, dude. I only saw the 1st half yesterday. We were okay, but by all accounts a lot worse in the 2nd. Ireland pretty anonymous tbh, don't think he's really up to match fitness yet. Think we should be easing him in a bit, not playing him as one of a CM two with Petrov. That might be okay once he's up to speed & used to the team, but currently just a recipe for being over-run.

While he's had difficult circumstances to work with (the manager and half the staff leaving), MacDonald has been pretty awful in most of his tactical choices. The only real good things he's done in the team is start playing L.Young in his actual position again and giving Albrighton a run in the team. Otherwise I think he's cost us points, notably at Stoke and yesterday. Plus we're out of Europe and the Newcastle debarcle.

So all in all, yes I am very glad Houllier is starting now. Always liked McAllister, so happy he's in as assistant (although I don't really know much of what he's like as coach/manager). Hopefully can get off to good start by winning in the cup midweek. League, I think we're going to end up 7-10th, given inconsistent start and a weak squad, so cup is best hope of any excitement this season. Deserve a bit of luck in that after being mugged by refs twice at Wembley last season Grr

    How's Milner doing?

I think he will do well for you, you have some good players and i thnk he will take you on and hopfully add some consistency but i think you could do with spending a bit in january to add some depth into the squad, will the milner money be available ?

Milner is doing well he works very very hard every game and is quality, plays safe passes nothing fancy but very accurate and links the play up well im very happy with him as he plays consistently well which is what was frsutrating with ireland.

He's trying to take the heat off his players and the inept defending from them. Been doing this for years now. Best to ignore him.

Though I have to add, when it comes to cheating yesterday, Nani was head and shoulders above anyone out there.

    I outlasted all them bitches.

Fergie is sorta right, Torres was trying to turn a yellow card offense into a red card offense, but given the extent to which his players dive and hassle referees he's a big gay hypocrite for bringing it up.

Probably just trying to distract people from the fact his team are already 4 points off the top, with no real hope of catching the beautiful steamroller than is Chelsea these days. Also gotta be said, Chelsea are playing some very nice football now Essien is back.

Like Cotter says, wait until Lampard is back to "run the midfield" Rolling Eyes

They won't realise Abramovich's CL dream, with Lampard as the top dog and not Essien.
