Kenny Dalglish and Comolli must be fired immediately. I can't believe how so much money was wasted on SHITE. Newcastle, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough sold us utter shite. I blame Dalglish and Comolli. Them two c**ts have to pay, they must be fired immediately!!!

I don't see what you have against Comolli, he is French
Not sure they had much choice with Carrol once they'd received the bid for Torres, it was like going on lastminute.com and seeing what you could get. On paper it looked ok, unfortunately it doesn't always translate to the pitch. In the last game against city though he looked better than I'd seen him previously. Not great, but better.
I might be the only one that thinks Henderson is good, played a nice 1st time pass to Downing against city, which xavi would have been proud of. Maybe the price tag is high but that is not his fault as he was highly valued by Sunderland. If I compare him to Anderson, Carrick etc then he doesn't seem bad at all.

How does 35 Million Pounds for Carroll look OK on paper?
We should have waited until the summer and used the money more wisely,we had no chance of getting 4th by that stage of the season anyway.Suerez,Kuyt and Ngog would have been good enough for 4 months.

So pissed off about how we wasted so much money on shite players, and even more so after seeing how Newcastle invested their money on Tiote, Cabaye, Ba. Kudos to them!

Hindsight's a wonderful thing. Unfortunately it doesn't work in real life only on message boards where you try to make yourself out to win ££££aaaaa$$$$$yyy ca$$$h etc.
Carroll had a great start to the season with Newcastle and looked a great striker (powerful, fast, decent touch, eye for goal). You paid over the odds, but you did get over the odds for Torres, so effectively it was Chelsea paying Newcastle. As for the rush, well by the end of the season if Carroll had continued the way he started there could have been more clubs after him and a higher price. At that time Liverpool didn't have to compete with anyone else, except Newcastle. Every manager has bought players that haven't worked out, the manager should know about players he has, so it seems that Dalglish called it right on Torres, he could never know for sure with Carroll. Personally I think he has a fitness problem, he seems slow and sluggish, possibly due to drinking heavily (I read something about this somewhere).
I don't think he was even bought for trying to get Liverpool into the CL since he was injured at the time so even your hindsight doesn't work properly

What? I said at the time he's shit and worth 10 million at most and Chelsea didn't pay Newcastle for Andy Carroll, that was our money,Chelsea didn't say we had to waste it and buy a shit player.
That's a shit excuse to be honest.

Dear me, so much anger and bitterness.
Carroll was one of the best strikers in the country when we signed him at the age of 20. In hindsight it was a colossol error, sure, but we wont be the first or last club to be put in a bad situation by a selfish player who requests a transfer with an afternoon remaining in a transfer window. You say Ngog, Kuyt and Suarez would have been adequate enough but how did we know Suarez would adapt so quickly to this league? By adding the player that Carroll looked like he could be at the time we may well have finished 4th and then we'd have the added incentive of the CL to offer any player we were after in the summer.
I'm not suggesting Carroll was a good transfer, far from it and there's no doubt we payed well over the odds for him but at the time he was worth at least £15 million if not more when we take into account the price of English players and the timing of it all; Newcastle would always be looking for a lot of money so late on in the window.

Re: Liverpool FC Thread 2011-2012
it was a silly amount of money, but it's equally silly to write these young players off so early in a transitional side. It is frustrating because you are paying a lot of this money not just for their potential, but for their ability now and their fast assimilation, and that hasn't worked out, but I'd be much more willing to jump on an anti Downing bandwagon than write off Henderson and Carroll. All Henderson seems to be guilty of is not being Yohan Cabaye, and there are plenty of other clubs who didn't sign Cabaye in the summer.
