    A hand full of rumours:

*Maxwell apparently on his way to PSG.

*Esteban Granero will spend the rest of the season on loan. Malaga and Villarreal are the two clubs he is being linked with strongly. Villarreal could do with him seeing how short their squad is.

*Jonathan Soriano is reportedly negotiating with Benfica. Barcelona has not offered him a new contract.

*Diego Simeone wants Fernando Gago for his new look Atletico but this would be a transfer for next season since Gago is currently on a season long loan at Roma.

*Javi Hervás who has been one of the notable performers for second division Cordoba is reportedly going to sign with Sevilla for a fee of 1,5m euro.

*Zaragoza trying to sign Adrian Colunga, Andres D'Alessandro, Mahamadou Diarra, and Guti in an effort to avoid relegation.

*Marca 'confirming' that an 'English club' is going to offer 42m euro for Di Maria. Rolling Eyes

thought malaga would have been a lot more active in this transfer window, they could do with a keeper and a defender for sure.

There is still a good chance they will bid for Albiol.

Not sure how much of an improvement this is but in any case...

If Barca can get 2-4m for Maxwell then good business all round. He's always acted professionally and I think PSG could do much worse than him as a short term option. He's good on the ball and links well with those around him. Never hit the heights expected of him though from his Ajax day's.

Hopefully this see's the promotion of Montoya.

The fee is rumoured to be 2m. And yes, Montoya will probably get more chances until the summer, when him and Bartra will be permanently promoted to the first team. Their new contract renewals enforce that. No loan allowed either. So either they're in the first team, or get sold.

He was really good for Barca in the 09 - 10 season,he was first choice ahead of Abidal but he faded after that.

Already noted in the FCB thread but Maxwell to PSG for 4m euro is official.

Kameni to Malaga on a free transfer is also official.

A few rumours to pass along:

*Zaragoza who are desperate to stay up are trying to recruit a new backline including David Navarro who I think went to play in Switzerland last summer and Alexis who has only played one time in the league for Marcelino.

*Pellegrini has asked for Granero. Almost certain he will join Malaga in this transfer market the only question is whether it is a permanent move or a loan for the remainder of the season.

*In a related move, Pellegrini has told Apoño he is free to leave if an offer comes.

*Exchange of players rumoured to be in the works between Atletico and Rayo. Rayo want Diego Costa and going the other way would be defender Casado and striker Lass.

*Simeone apparently does not want Joao Miranda who could return to Brasil.

*Forlan being linked with Barcelona again. Not sure how he is settling in Serie A but with David Villa out the rumours were always going to surface again.

Sevilla have signed Babá from Maritimo in Portugal. Never heard of him but I guess he was the second leading scorer in Portugal behind Oscar Cardozo. Fee is rumoured to be 3,5m for the Senegalese striker.

Gijon and Zaragosa were in for him, but he went where the biggest contract was being offered, can't blame him, he is 26 and just now getting a real break, just want to secure his future I guess.

His agent was saying he would not sign for anyone who is offering less than 1m euros a season.

After being linked for so long with a move to Sevilla, Giovanni Dos Santos is apparently close to moving to Villarreal. But the move is conditional upon Villarreal selling brasilian striker Nilmar.

    Good move for Pulido.

Espanyol have a nice little squad now, and I rate Potchettino as a manager, especially considering he has had little to no money to invest.

    Is Javi Marquez injured?

Yeah Javi Marquez had some ongoing injury problems with his ankle and finally he was operated maybe November if I remember correctly. I think he was projected to be out 2-3 months.

I like Pochettino as well. Not afraid to play the kids. Always puts together a pretty decent squad for the funds available. And there they are again with a chance to qualify for the CL. Imagine if they had not had to sell Nicolas Pareja, Victor Ruiz, Didac (ok they got him back for this season), Sergio Sanchez, Osvaldo, Callejon, Pablo Zabaleta, Albert Riera (he was good for a while) over the last few years plus RIP Dani Jarque.

Certainly looks a very good team and only Osvaldo has gone on to a semi big club to start while Zabaleta is a very important sub for City.

Now Espanyol confirming the signing of Víctor Sánchez another of the casualties of Neutchal Xamax's implosion. Ex-Barcelona canterano will be good for their midfield.

Pretty low key winter in Spain, looks like the recession is having its say... Who do you think are the best 3 signings in Spain this winter in terms of value, quality, and possible impact in the new team?

Apart from Reyes going to Sevilla for 3,5m and Kameni (depending on which version of the Cameroonian we see) to Malaga for free I can't really see anyone having too much of an impact.

People seem to be buzzing about this Coutinho kid but I've never seen him, you would be able to say more on that!

I think Jorge Pulido going to Rayo is a great move for him...he's very promising but he needs games against top flight competition.

Coutinho is gifted, but he needs to build some muscle and develop his end product. He is very raw, so some playing time at Espanyol will do him a lot of good. And he does look like someone who might enjoy Spain more than Italy, but we plan to take him back in the summer!!

I think Italian clubs have been the most busy among the top leagues... and they didn't do much either!

I understand Guardado, on a free no less, is all but a formality. Excellent business. For me that would just leave a CB to push Ruiz and maybe a partner for Banega.

Who is responsible for their transfers? I'm very impressed.

Why would they replace Tino Costa?

I don't think Tino Costa is a reliable enough perfomer. Excellent at set pieces and a hard worker, but not great in either facet of the game and gives possession away to cheaply. If they can find someone creative to go in the hole (i.e. Canales if he stays), then I think they'd be better off having an out and out DM next to Banega. Someone like Romeu would have been perfect, but I'm not sure what affordable good options there are. Albelda is old, and I'm not overly convinced by Topal either as a first choice.

    @Fey

Surely VdW has lots of potential though?

    Grr He's a Valencia legend!
