Man City's away form is embarrassingly bad. Haven't scored more than 1 goal in a league match away from home since 5th November. That 6-1 at Man Utd seems a lifetime ago.

A satisfying win to put the nail in the coffin for title aspirations of overpaid mercenaries. Good performance too, we were the better team throughout though the relative dearth of end product is a concern - unlucky or not - esp as VanP appears to have run out of goals for the time being. Kos misses 2 matches and Gibbs may be missing too, just as well our next 2 matches are against Wigan and Wolves.

Balotelli, a gift that keeps on giving. <Ale>

+ City are going backwards not forwards. If they had just on 5-6 games on the spin then I'd give City a fair shake but Man Utd have the bit between their teeth and that thing is getting CONSUMED with no leftovers.

Can't believe how big they've bottled this. Mancini is ridiculous. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt but jesus...

Why didnt he take off Balotelli? The world saw the guy getting sent off before it happened, except this dimwitted shit. He should've gone at least once before and got booked, how do you not conclude that it's time to bring someone else on?

I think his man management has gone to the shitter there. Players on the pitch will be wondering why he isnt getting replaced. Players on the bench will be wondering why they arent getting to come on instead.

Was Dzeko on the bench today? He must be fucked off seeing him get to stay on AND Tevez getting to come on before him. Is he not trusted to help win a game?

Adam Johnson not even on tbe bench today? Injured or just snubbed? Again, I know he's up and down but to not even make the bench is ridiculous. He is a game changer.

    He'll deserve his sacking.

Congrats to the United fans <Ale>

Absolutely think this is game over for City. I think that they are a stronger team than United but they don't have that experience that United do. Once again SAF delivers and their record since Scholes came back is impressive. At the beginning of the season I didn't think City had what it took and they couldn't build a championship team so fast but it already looks very strong imo and I think the Arabs would be wise to retain Mancini provided the squad is backing him. I think this could be a very fruitful experience if they don't mess with the team which could happen.

Anyawy did we ever had a Arteta v Parker discussion? Cause Arteta is proving he is the better one since the second half of the season begun.

BTW, none of the so called Brit talents from Arsenal( Walcott, Wilshere, Oxlade, Ramsey) are anything special!

I agree with cooper, the man management has been terrible. There have been multiple reports of training ground bust-ups, multiple complaints of unhappiness with his overly rigorous training methods, public arguments with Dzeko, and of course the massive fuck-ups around Balotelli and Tevez. All this makes for a potential atom bomb that will explode the moment things go slightly wrong on the pitch...and that's exactly what has happened. I've said it before, Mancini lacks the calmness and personality to be a top manager, he's far too impulsive.

On the pitch, Mancini hasn't handled his squad correctly in terms of rotation, and that has led to their position today. I think the problems started in the winter fixture period, where you could see he was failing to manage his squad effectively. And things have just got worse from there.

Also, I think he should be sacked, but the problem for City's owners is that they must bring in Mourinho. Nobody else will do...and if he decides to stay at Madrid, then they would have to pour more money down the drain with Mancini, and risk Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs closing the gap to City further (which is not very likely considering the respective situations at those clubs), or Man. Utd. actually spending some money on their midfield in the summer.

I didn't mean the players. I meant the club and the culture surrounding the club is too inexperienced with winning not to mention SAF. That is what made the difference imo.

Yeah I dont buy into an entity like a "club" being inexperienced either.

The fact the club is made up of so much experience, from management staff to players is what should matter. Otherwise how the hell will they ever win anything? Chelsea werent experienced in winning things when Mourinho took over really..didnt stop them.

This is what made Mourinho's league title impressive to me. This is why I didn't expect City to already be up there competing this season. Next season City doesn't have any excuses in my book.

They've a stronger squad of players than Man Utd have, but they aren't a stronger team and at the moment Mancini doesn't seem capable of developing that. They have some core players like Kompany who look like they can be integral to developing this bond and cohesion, but there are too many self-interested and disruptive players in the squad. Considering how much Mancini's authority has been undermined this season I think it'll be a struggle for him to take things much further. As to today, it was appalling management to keep Balotelli on the pitch. A sensible manager would have taken him off before halftime, and it's a bit surprising he didn't as he has never been afraid of making substitutions early on in the past if someone is letting him down.

Very satisfying match from an Arsenal perspective. I really enjoyed that, even if the quality was a bit mediocre at times.

The Man Utd penalty was an absolute disgrace. I suppose the only positive for a non-Man Utd supporting Englishman is that Rooney is getting a hell of a lot of penalty practise at the moment. His goal tally is getting seriously inflated with all their spot kicks, he could still catch van Persie up in the goalscoring charts.

Well I'm not sure you casn really say they have a stronger squad than ManU overall. In terms of Center forwards and CMs, yes. But overall proven ability in the PL?

ManU have better collection of wingers.
They are about equal for FBs
and ManU have a better depth in defence.

Seeing as most of the lesser teams in the league are happy to bypass the midfeild, ManUs weak CM doesn't actually show them up in the league campaign.

If instead of Balotelli and Nasri they had pacy wingers like Sanchez and Ben Arfa supporting Aguero, I'm pretty sure ManC would be walking this league. A.Johnson isn't as good but is still underused there.

Writing was on the wall for Man city. Balotelli single handedly destroyed their chances of them winning the EPL more so than Tevez. Brought in by Mancini it is easy to blame the coach few seem to be able to cope with his attics on and off the field. True Mancini is no hard nose coach and will have to take the blame for them losing the EPL but crap some of these top players are real cocks and by nature coaches always want to see the best of a player shine through what Mancini tried to do backfired leaving Balotelli fucking Mancini up.

now he blames the lad balotelli, so everyone talks about balotelli and not about his coaching failures

why the heck does he field him with tevez (where he said he will never play again for city) on the bench when he has such an opinion about him

Balotelli has always been the center of the Media since coming to City. Everyone bashes the coach which is correct after all he sets the rule for his squad. If you have a player that cannot be controlled he should be left out. Tevez was a fool as well I bet you he does not disrupt the squad as much as Balotelli....This has weakened the run in to the end of the season for City I would of liked them going on and winning the title but some their players were arses and they betrayed the good nature of the club and specially the fans for self interest. A strong core of players can deal with a coaches ups and downs, one deluded self righteous bullock can turn the cream sour IMO ........ go ahead and blame the coach it is easier. <Ale>

What a superb player he is, he and Lescott, who I really didn't rate prior to this season, were keeping City in that game almost singlehandedly at times.

Balotelli one again proving he's all all frenzied headlines over substance. Getting to the point now where I do wish he'd just fuck off to Qatar so he doesn't once again manage to over shadow what really was an entertaining game of football, won by the better team and lost by a manager who has the best squad in the league by some distance. Leaving Balotelli onwas unforgivable in a game of that magnitude. Fully deserves to be sacked

By the way, in case anyone wasn't paying attention, another 2 goals for Clint yesterday.

15 PL goals (25 in all comps), 5 assists. And not Fulhams regular penalty taker nor their main striker.

Some season he's having. Hopefully he can continue that form against Chelsea today Ale

Think few would disagree that Kompany has been the best defender in the league this season. Although even he did get caught out by Van Persie's brilliant movement.

On an Arsenal note, thought it was an impressive defensive performance from our two centre backs. Veramelen has his flaws, as illustrated last week, but for the most part, him and Koscielny have a very good understanding, and in the last 7 games, we've conceded only 4 goals. Whilst not the figures that would impress the figures of a man utd or a chelsea fan; it's very good for arsenal, and vermaelen and koscielny are the best partnership i've seen at the club for a few years.
