Need some cup joy as break from league misery. also will be supporting Mansfield Very Happy though I think the PL teams that will be worried about an upset are more like Newcastle, Stoke, Norwich. And Villa, of course. Please don't lose to Mick McCarthy.

Are Newcastle this not taking serious?

The FA-cup is losing it's prestige fast. They should at least scrap one of the cup tournaments.

They have injuries/ players sold/ Pardew to be fair.

You say the cup has lost its prestige but all the winners recently seem to be big clubs.

They should scrap the carling cup though; it's literally pointless.

Newcastle have a hopeless record on the south coast. Portsmouth, southampton, brighton - regularly beaten by the most southern of soft shandies. It's like the opposite of the stereotypical tough trip up north/into the dark ages.

Apparently Ba went over to ask Lampard to take that penalty (and complete his hat trick) , Lampard pointed at his captain armband and told him to go away.

That's why he's known as Fat Frank.

Lampard needed the goal to become the second (tied) highest goal scorer in Cheslea history, i think.

Probably. It's hardly unusual behaviour from a professional footballer, its just amusing how there are certain footballers like Lampard, Ronaldo who are so clearly obsessed with their personal scoring record. What a selfless, welcoming gesture it would have been if he let Ba score a hat trick on his debut.

I agree with you on this part. I remember when Paul Ince moved to Inter Milan it was a big deal because Nicola Berti gave him the number 4 shirt to welcome him to the club. You don't see gestures like that too often any more.

Still, you could accuse Ba of being equally concerned with his own scoring when he asked to take the penalty in the first place. Lampard is the penalty taker at Chelsea, he would know that I'm sure. And knowing Ba's record in the past of being pretty selfish, not wanting to play on the wing, etc. I can hardly feel sorry for him. He was after the headline just as much as Lampard.
