Villa has taken a lot of them in the past but he was on the bench. Apparently nobody but Ramos wanted to take it. If Xavi didn't have any confidence he should have had the balls to take it himself.

Another reason why Alonso should be in, he wouldn't have bottled it and let Ramos take it.

I guess this lack of courage is also a difference between greats like zidane and very good players like xavi and iniesta.

I forgot Cesc too. He is second in line after Alonso normally but of course he was injured.

@ 110%: You seem to forget that I was one of the few people defending Greece for their Euro win. I believe that was a classic case of playing to system and tactics - a defensive one of bus-parking and smash and grab. Did I like their football? Absolutely not. Did I appreciate it? Absolutely. As I said previously, they won it the hard way and it was up to their opponents to break them down, which they couldn't do. They had to beat Portugal twice and did. They deserve every credit for their achievement. Did I find it entertaining? Not one bit. Should Greece give a toss about that? Absolutely not. Should Spain care if they are loved, or others think them boring? They shouldn't give a toss either.

That's a strange way to admit that me, kimbo and mongrel were right about saying Spain were boring, but thanks <Ale>
