both Villa & Spurs made a lot of changes.

    Steer
    Lowton-Vlaar-Baker-Bennett
    Bacuna-Sylla-ElAhmadi
    Albrighton-Kozak-Tonev

    vs

    Friedel
    Walker-Chiriches-Vertonghen-Fryers
    Sandro-Paulinho-Holtby
    Lamela-Defoe-Kane

Interested to see how we look without any of our usual front 3.

Incredible to see the difference between Villa and Spurs in the last 4 years. A cautionary tale for any aspiring club. in 2009 you could say both clubs were on the same level.

these things go in cycles & Villa is clearly quite early in a rebuilding after the post-DISGRACE Grr years of upheaval. the gulf in cost & experience between the two sides last night was vast & all of Villa's best players were missing.

Spurs have the squad to start winning trophies/reaching top 4 now, but all that said, in terms of concrete achievement all Spurs have on Villa since 2009 is European qualification.

    Short answer: less than Lamela.

    Long answer:
    Steer £1m
    Lowton £2.5m
    Bennett £3m
    Vlaar £3m
    Baker £0
    Sylla £1m
    El Ahmadi £2m
    Bacuna £2m
    Albrighton £0
    Tonev £1.5m
    Kozak £7m
=~£23m total.. (some of these are a bit unknown but I don't think those figures are far off)

    + subs: Helenius £1.5m, Bowery £1m, Robinson £0

I remenberr you telling us not so long ago that all Spurs did was replace their squad as opposed to improve it. Considering that was a team peppered with so called second stringers (8 changes from Saturdays side) I'm taking some satisfaction from how foolish that argument really was from the get go. Now we're onto how much the squad cost, and of course avoiding the 85million pound elephant in the room who I believe was not sold by Villa.

I would have started Kelly, there's no need for hyperbole I'm sure once he gets on the field he'll move up the pecking order again.

It's the same team I'd have picked, except for Kelly in for one of the 3 centrebacks.

Moyes has blinked, and decided to rotate which makes us look a bit like the kid who turns up in his school uniform on non-uniform day.
