That was never a penalty. What is it with refs in this country, it can't be too hard to find some competent ones.

As expected we battered a terrible side. Should have been 6-0 or more.

If we can keep up beating all these rubbish teams and get a few draws against the big sides (Arsenal, Southampton, City and Chelsea) then we might be ok.

These incidents can look like penalties at full speed from favourable angles. Kind of defenders fault as there was no need to allow the incident to occur.

I really don't see defender doing so wrong here, contact was minimal in this occasion.

So, is there a study available about weaker teams getting this kind of decisions against "big boys"? Especially playing away and losing in additional time?

He just more or less ran into him. He was on his way down already and it is soft, but it's stupid. Seconds left and you're winning, shouldn't get that close, refs often give that.

Its all contact from the waist up though, and no pulling.

That's nothing more than a shoulder barge, its not even a case for obstruction.

From what I saw today he was way too progressive in his passing to be labelled anywhere close to Carrick, more like Gerrard... or Charlie Adam .
Game was relatively easy for him today defensively, as he had to compete against Osman, Barry and McCarthy, plus Palace players were playing very close together.

That's kinda what I was trying to get at. When he kept it simple he's fine in a Joe Allen/Carrick kinda way (but too lightweight). but when he plays it forward he just doesn't have the end product to justify the passes..
