We are throwing away this match in-order to rest players for the Bayern match. A match we have very little chance of winning. And even if we win, have very little chance of going through over 2 legs.

We haven't won a trophy for God knows how long, why not prioritise the FA cup (best chance of breaking our trophy drought)?

TBF, even before hindsight, there are only three players you might consider definitely a downgrade over what's currently available for this type of opponent. The two FBs and Fabianski. Sonogo is fresh and has lots of energy compared to Giroud, Poldolski gives us pace a directness we badly need. Arteta over Wilshere you could argue is better defensively.

Its worked so far other than the early chances missed Sturridge.

Gotta say, Sonogo has everything to be a brilliant modern forward... except technique. Its horribly bad. It may well take 2/3 years to get it to a reliably acceptable standard. But as before his injury, his simple link up play is a real asset.

It was a pretty clear pen. No suggestion of a dive at all. Podolski kicked him.

Gerrard and Scholes have got away with that for years. Sliding in whilst on a yellow card and missing the ball. Webb is having a shocker
