Looks tasty, but was to be expected after the draw of group B.
Hoped for Spain/Ned vs Brazil, so MAYBE Brazil got lucky here even when they are saying Chile is the worst choice for them.

Lets see if Chile is really that good or if the game against netherlands was their real face. Then i guess Brazil will do the job.

I didn't rate Mexico before this tournament, but their performances were really good. Still giving Netherlands an edge here.

Chile has no height and not enough fitness (struggled last 15 minutes in *every* group match) : should be a free pass to the QF for Brazil.

The other match looks more interesting, although :

Mexico has a huge crowd roaring it on and they're playing in familiar conditions (somewhere in the jungle at 13:00) : those are two big plusses for a side that doesn't look to have a weak spot to begin with. Only downside is (that I can see) that they don't have a proven weapon.

Looks like two grinding teams duking it out.....but we've thought that before this WC and were treated to 4+ goals...

    Brazil and Netherlands I reckon.

Brazil: neymar and/or ref to decide it

Netherlands: Mexico have defended well but they haven't come up against an attacking player as good as Robben yet.

As well as Mexico and Costa Rica have played, it's pretty clear who you'd rather face. If there is a choice between Brazil, Germany, France, Argentina etc. or Mexico, Greece, Costa Rica then of course it is an "easier" path but there are no easy games.

If somebody forces me to place a bet on the semis this would be my choice;:

    Argentina - Netherlands
    France - Brazil

just a feeling after watching the group stages so far. Unless Germany can get their shit together we will get thumbed by France at the latest.

Germany will DOMILIATE France, and Argentina will be lucky to beat Switzerland.

I would not be surprised to see the Netherlands and Chile or Colombia meet in the final.

Colombia has been the best South American up to now, and of course they can reach the semis. But Colombia, as well as Chile, fear Brazil. Uruguay don't. Uruguay has the worst football of the 4 S Americans on the same side, but they are the more competitive IMO. They always grow against Brazil.

Brazilians know that. Before the Confed semis, Zico said Uruguay would be much more tough to beat than Spain in the final. Zico played many times against Uruguayans and he knew what he was talking about. They almost kicked us out.

Besides, South American football is very emotional. A Brazil-Uruguay game will bring back the cultural memories of 1950. Uruguay will use this to find strength.

France have to meet Nigeria in 1/8 but at least they will run into Germany in 1/4.

Argentina will meet Switzerland and then possibly Feyhype(or USA)

Holland will meet Mexico and then Ivory Coast or Costa Rica

Hoping for Brazil vs Uruguay and France vs Germany

To put this into perspective we have 12 games in the 1/8+1/4 and only 2 of these games will be between big powers and one of those is only a big game because of the history(Brazil vs Uruguay)

This World Cup has had some surprises but at a very high cost. This is almost as bad as WC 2002

If all goes well we will get Brazil vs France/Germany and Argentina vs Holland

Of course I prefer watching big teams. I would gladly take England and Italy instead of Costa Rica and Uruguay(don't mind Uruguay though) and I would much rather have seen Spain the last 16 than Chile because they deserved to meet Brazil and go out in honor. Plus, after the group stages it is a different ball game.

Thankfully we still have the exclusive Champions League where minnows are still kept out

We don't want shite world cups like 2002 with quarter finals like senegal vs turkey. That's why 2006 and 98 were so good - because the big teams made it to the latter stages.
