Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
I really don't want us to get Origi.
Spurs need:
* A channel running striker who is ready to score goals.
* A tall mobile CB who can survive in a high line.
* A left back
* A left inside forward
IMO we need to get rid of Soldado, Dawson, and one of Paulinho/Dembele.

No. I find it quite pointless spending 8 million on a 3rd choice striker. My eye rolling was the fact that Spurs seem to come in for every player we are linked to every transfer window.
We need a superstar signing to replace Suarez and sign up Lovren and I'll be happy. In an ideal world we'd replace Johnson as well but that isn't going to happen.

It's been 5 years Blut, LEAVE ME ALONE!
We already have Soldado for proof of what static poachers do for my club.

Yeah, or Welbeck, or Luc Costaignos.
Konoplyanka, or throw EPL TV money at Sociedad for Griezmann.
Throw EPL TV money at Wolfsburg for Ricardo Rodriguez orSporting for Marcos Rojo.
And bring Steven Caulker back (ridiculous that he was sold in the 1st place).

Welkbeck is infitely better than Castaignos.
I think Welbeck is a talent who just needs a good manager....now we'll have to see if he's willing to follow uncle Louis' instructions

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Give it up Axe, Welbeck's ridiculously underrated in England.
*He had 9 open play goals in 25 apps.
*He had only played 8 of those games as a CF
*He had 5 goals in those 8 games where he did play as a CF
* His goals per minute ratio and conversion rate was up there with Lukaku, Bony & Adebayor
Welbeck needs to leave Man Utd - there's no reason his goal record shouldn't improve when playing regularly upfront, and he's be a good fit for the Pochettino system.

If we leave all the excuses aside for his pretty poor goal record, it's actually the fact that he gets through on goal and then falls over his own feet, chips the ball into the keeper's hands etc, that make me think he's just not very good. OK he's played on the left wing, but that's no excuse for the lack of technique when he gets 1 on 1 with the keeper.

That's the thing though - his goal record was not poor in the league last season. The numbers I posted show that. He's ready to make the jump if given the opportunity to get rhythm and consistency that you get from being a starting CF.
And his shots-to-goal ratio is actually very good.
He could definitely get 15-20 for us and provide an excellent platform for our midfield.

I wasn't arguing about the numbers, but his lack of technique. But he can run and he'll score occasionally, but forget finishing in the top 4 if he's your main striker.
He did vastly improve last season, the season before he scored 1 goal in 27 games from 39 shots, very clever of you to not mention that.

It is weird that Spurs are supposed to be breaking the top 4..svs to do that they think Welbeck is the answer. Not that he's some awful player.. But he's not going to take a club to the next level.

he's part of the answer.
We don't have the attraction to buy ready made WC players, so I'd like us to build the most balanced team possible, and he suits us a lot more than Soldado and is more reliable than Adebayor, he's one I'd have faith in to "grow into" the responsibility.

I don't get the hate on Welbeck. I think he's a really good young player. He reminds me a bit of Higuain in that when he was young he wasn't a great goalscorer. He scored some great goals but also missed a lot of chances. In the end though he finished his RM career averaging better than a goal every other game. But people are not patient these days. If a guy isn't a superstar by the time he is 21 they think he's rubbish. I think Welbeck has been wasted at Man U and for England playing out wide. I like him better playing more through the middle.

Jason Puncheon is 5 years older, barely played at the top level, and has nothing in common with Welbeck apart from ethnicity.
He's a natural winger and Welbeck is not.
@ Jaime, it's the same reason why people hate on Milner, Henderson & Cleverly. Not sexy enough.
