Nope - i don't think we can do anything until January now so I'm writing off this month and next month already - we got our signings largely wrong this summer - we need to sign 2 strikers in January and a centre back, then we should be ok if be don't fuck that up - the other teams in the race for 4th are all quite shit as well.

Let's say he fails to buy those players... Puts faith in summer signings. What then? He had plenty of time to sign strikers in the summer, bought 2...1 who was always going to be back up.. And another who most people said wasn't the answer. I'm not sure he'll do any better in January. He'll have to pay even more for anyone decent as well

    He was offside too.

But to makes things fair - Austin was also offside when he scored, all 3 his goals should be disallowed.

    Crazy match.

Once Brendan realises he can drop Gerrard we'll be fine there.

Henderson/Allen/Lucas to play alongside Can with Lallana being able to play there as well is good enough. Rossiter coming through looks good as well.

The problem is centre back and up front - once we sort those out like we failed to do in the summer we'll be ok.

Still a long way to go, he's given the club some of its worst form and results in its entire history. Even now we're doing well because he's been forced to play certain players due to injury.

As far as i'm concerned he has just waited 10 months to get a few results, I give credit to the players, especially the young ones that have come in and made things happen. And I am enjoying it, I just happen to think Pardew is a shit manager, and I base that on the last 2/3 years, not the last few games. I am not fickle. <Ale>

But Pardew also got you to 4th almost Kimmy. You seem to be downplaying his achievements all the time and say it's the players but when things go wrong it's the manager? Sounds like a classic agenda to me.

Hodgson was a good manager for Liverpool IMO. Did better than your boy Rodgers is doing this season, maybe you should have stuck with him. <Ale>

Again, we pay the price for AW's neglect of defensive cover. It hardly bears repeating. And I am depressingly confident he won't buy in January because he won't see 'value in the market' and will be able to paper over the cracks when Debuchy and Koscielny come back to the side. Though I have also a horrible feeling that Kos' situation may mirror that of Vermaelen.

What's the deal with Welbeck? His goalscoring record is still poor and Arsenal's results don't seem any better with him upfront.

I dont know which was more predictable, us losing to Stoke at home or Arsenal collapsing after the one man Sanchez show.

Is it obligatory for teams to be this shit after playing in Europe? Its inexcusable really given squad sizes, yet it happens again and again. Or perhaps Europe is just a mere filling in an already shit tasting sandwich.

Anyway, as I said at the beginning of the season, Poch should be given at least 18 months to sort this limp wristed bunch out. If we came 10th, had a decent run in one of the cups and re-arranged our squad into one capable of playing a coherent attacking / pressing game for next season, that would be more than acceptable. Only Levy plus those fans still deluded by the solitary CL run in 2010 think sacking another manager in a vain hope for top 4 is the answer.

I think the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and City should be ashamed that they can't handle European competition. They all spend a shit load on players and have far bigger squads than the likes of Swansea, Southampton, West Ham yet it's those teams who look bang fucking up for it - the crowd is immense, they work hard as a team, they compete physically.

I look at Sigurddson and Bony today and then I look at Balotelli or Johnson and I'm embarrassed. The latter two get upwards of 80 grand a week and they can't be assed. Johnson literally waited to be fouled yesterday at one point rather than go on a run and try and do something for his team. Sickening.
