Palermo are on a slump....They have fallen away from the title race

In the meantime, Vice-President Adriano Galliani confirmed that Andriy Shevchenko is not set to return to the San Siro.

“Sheva will not return, it is unthinkable. We don’t need reinforcements in January, apart from maybe someone in defence,” explained the official on Monday

They don't have a squad to carry off a sustained challenge... the moment they got hit by injuries, he went down... it was only expected... but they still should make the CL tho, and finish over one of Milan/Lazio.

I don't actualy really care where inter go to... I just want Milan in the final.... it mught be there only hope of being in the C.L next season

But it will be a dream final for moi! Winning the CL is a dream in itself, but beating Milan in the final would be the icing on the cake

That's a good point about Galliani, he was definitely banned from football in the calciopoli trial.

HE was, but if he was doing something illegal then FIGC, CONI, Lega Calcio would all be onto him....

Della Valle is also still there at Fiorentina!

I think you will get to the Semi's..not sure about any further...
I fancy Milan to reach the final...their recent record in the CL is fantastic..and I think the fact they may have trouble qualifying via Serie A will spur them on more.

IMO Semi's would be par for the course for Inter this season... anything less than that would be under-achievement!

I guess a lot also depends on the draw in a knockout tournament...

Summary of this weekends games:

Palermo face Livorno this saturday as they look to get back to winning ways, after failing to beat Inter at home and Parma away! Livorno who were also flying high suffered a shock defeat to Chievo at home last weekend! Livorno hadn't conceded a goal at home, until last Sunday's 2-0 loss to Chievo! Arrigoni travels back to Palermo were he was sacked by the Sicilian outfit in 2003, and will hope for a win to close ther 8 point gap behind, 3rd placed Palermo!

Parma take on the draw specialists Cagliari at the Stadio Sant' Elia! Parma and Cagliari come fresh out home draws against Palermo and Milan respectively, and both are looking for wins! Parma who managed a 3-1 home win against Serie B leaders Napoli in midweek, and who are flying high in Europe are ready for the challenge to take on the Sardinians! A win for Cagliari will bring them onto 18 points and will leave them in the top half of the table, depening on how the other teams perform!

The flying doney's who are now flying high after their shock win to Livorno last Sunday take on Prandelli's Fiorentina at home! Fiorentina come straight out of a win against 7th placed Lazio, and are looking to continue with a win against Chievo! A win for tuscan outfit will bring them out of relegation zone depending if Ascoli fail to beat Reggina and if Cagliari beat Parma! A win would do both sides good!

Milan take on on Torino who are coming off a two match winning streak, the Toro's look to cause some damage to the Lombardian outfit, who are in crisis mode! Milan are in need of a win to boost their confidence as they come off a midweek home loss to Lille in the C.L and an away draw to Cagliari! If Ancellotti is to secure his job a win is a must for the Rossoneri tactician! Milan are without there world cup winning stars Pirlo, who got a red card in the draw to Cagliari, Nesta who had a shoulder opperation earlier in the week, and Gattuso who is out until the new year! They could also be without inform Kaka' who has a fott injury, but the arrival of Ambrosini could be a boost for the team! Milan need this win as they come up against two tough oppositions in the next two weekends! A win for the Rossoneri will put them onto 15 points!

The biggest game of the weekend though will be in the Italian capital, Rome! Where high flying Roma look to keep up the title race alive against Inter with a Derby win! Lazio who have been in great form, suffered a 1-0 loss away to Fiorentina, but will look to get back on track as they wish to stop the title hopes of their cross town rivals! This derby has always been a must watch, and this season it's no different, though Lazio will be without Di Canio, Oddo is certainly prepared to take on the challenge! Tomorrow night it's the battle of the Romans, Oddo vs Totti two of Italy's world cup winners battling it out at the Stadio Olympico! A win for Lazio is a must as they look to beat Milan for fourth spot, to make sure they qualify for next seasons C.L!

I agree 100%! Palermo definitly need this win, already the press in Italy are talking of a crisis mode!

And with Roma, well my second team... of course I am going for a win!

I hope lazio take a coupla points off Roma... the big derbys are never an easy win, even if one team is doing much better than the other in the league... too many emotions and pressures involved.

I do hope palermo come back on track tho - they were so good before Di Michelle's injury.

And I hope Inter max the points against empoli - these are excatly the kind of games that can derail our leadership - small teams in top form.
