Saha vs Rooney

only 5 months ago 100% of Englanders would have been insulted by this comparison

these days, is there still anybody out there who would really prefer to have a British double-agent on his team rather than a proper French sharp-shooter ??

I am just not sure who's fall from grace has been more spectacular over the last 5 months:

that of 002, Becks or Lampard ?!

That would of been apt, if Rooney didn't manage a hatrick last Saturday.

However you do raise a good point, we can cover for Rooney (Scholes or Giggs), we have no real cover for Saha and he has got 6 goals and 6 assists so far.

Saha is technically superior and perhaps a shade quicker, and obviously bigger so more effective in the air. Rooney is stronger, works harder, passes and crosses better.

Tough call, but the fact is that Rooney has about 7 years on his side. He'll end up better than Saha, I think that much is clear.

I'd take either of them over Podolski...

Saha is what, 28? Basically at his peak.

For my club, I'd take Rooney any day. Even if you don't like him you could flog him for £20m tomorrow... No way you'd get that for Saha.

Rooney is the main man but Saha is a hugely underrated striker.

If any team in the world was offered the chance to sign one of them they would go for Rooney but I think Saha is incredibly effective and if he was the same age as Rooney and as good as he is then I could imagine him being more valuable, still not a regular in the french squad though

Saha only has two problems. His injury record (he'd need another year injury free to lose that tag) and he misses simple chances (even though he then scores more difficult one's).

Saha is a decent striker. Rooney is a good prospect.

Who would you rather have in your team and who would you rather have in your atarting line-up are two different questions. Man Utd can compensate for the loss of Rooney. Saha gets injured and they are funked.

Anyway...they both play different positions so the comparison is flawed.

Saha is a good striker, Rooney with high potential. Both are underrated and overrated.

I agree that if Saha was English he'd be hyped far more, however if Saha WAS English i'm sure the England front line would be Saha-Rooney, EVEN if Owen was fit
