    Exactly, no luck involved there.

We beat Roma fair and square aswell.

the QF and SF werent luck, we just battered them for 90 minutes and got the goals we needed.

The match where we beat them 1-0 at home and they offered no threat.

Then the match where they only managed to beat us 2-1 at their place, hence us going through.

No lucky involved, just good goal keeping from Schwarzer and a quality goal from a Downing cross to a Jimmy header.

your fault, you told me Gamst was dangerous, so I tried to take him out asap. Wink

By the way they really suck blackburn, especially up front. nonda and benni used to be decent strikers, they're incredibly pants (did you see it?)
was it a ooijer handball 2nd half?

we really lacked de guzman, we depended too much on opportunism, anyway they must have given charisteas something before the match, he even did some things right.

    Luck. Doh Laugh

ONE STEVEN TAYLOR, THERE'S ONLY ONE STEVEN TAAAAAYYLOOOOOOOOR!!!! What a celebration, best of the season(including Martins). You could see it meant ALOT to him. Very Happy <Ale>

Always pleasing to win without playing well, and without so many key players. Lovely assist from Milner for Sibs goal aswell. Bubbly

Roeder got the formation(4-5-1/4-3-3) right today but unfortunately we didn't have the personel available for it so it ended up looking disjointed and a bit scrappy. Hopefully he'll keep it for the pompey game when we'll have Dyer, Parker, and Martins on the field. Solano played well at right back, he can stay there. Emre and Luque were shite though.

    For Pompey...

    -----------------Given------------------
    Solano--Taylor--Bramble*--Ramage
    ------------------Butt-------------------
    ----------Parker---N'Zogbia-----------
    Dyer-----------Martins----------Milner

Gamst is dangerous, just this season he hasn't turned up ... Maybe its me or has Blackburn not picked up from last season ..

Feyenoord should have won (Hofs should have had a brace ..)

what did you make of the 'Greek Kuijt'? .. Fey was 'impressed' or 'shocked' with his 'new found skills'

It really looks like the glorious nation of Romania is going to get more CL spots soon. And well deserved.

Today Dinamo Bukarest managed a fantastic 1-1 at home against a team that goes by the name of Mlada Boleslav. No idea where that is, but I'm sure we can all agree that Uefa Cup matches should count just as much as Champions League games. I mean when some Bukarest team beats Hapoel Nikosia that is surely worth as many points as when Sporting beats Inter or Bremen beats Chelsea. Right?

As of today Romania have collected 10.0 points for this season, with England in second spot with 9.2. Spain and Italy follow way behind with 7.8 and 7.2.

Okay, sarcasm over. What the fuck, Uefa?

For the current rankings go here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/crank2007.html

I know they're doing well in the Uefa Cup. I just think beating a crap team in the Uefa cup shouldn't be worth the same number of points as a win in the CL.

Of course, it's only a problem for Germany, Portugal, and Holland. We or at least the German top teams depend on the Champions League. If we lose spots our clubs are in more danger of losing that money (even if only for a season). It's a problem for us because we don't get the same TV money as other countries. Bayern with all their accolades don't even have (or spend) the money a mid-table team from England is spending.

When the Romanian teams actually play in the CL they'll probably go down fairly quickly. But in the meantime German teams (for example) will keep losing money they need to compete and to make up for it they'll keep losing players.

Do you think Leverkusen sold Berbatov because they didn't like him scoring twenty goals a season?

    @ Effenberg

That's why I hope Platini wins the UEFA election. I want to see teams from smaller nations take part in the CL and become better. What we have now is small teams from big nations - Valencia, Inter and Arsenal- taking the berths of these smaller nations.

    @ Kimbo
So incredibly lucky, wait til someone does a Sevilla on you.

    Marca:
El equipo de Glenn Roedor recurrió al pelotazo como recurso para sorprender a su rival.
Glen Roeder's team resorted to the long-ball to surprise their opponents.

    Kind of say's it all.

It will water down the competition though. And they won't reach the top 3 so it really won't make a difference to Italy/Spain/England.

It is not strange to compare both players... I was quite impressed about Drenthe. Most of the times when youth players from Feyenoord break through they are not good enough for the top...

But this Drenthe was quite good last night!

Watched the highlights of the Spurs game and it looked like a reasonably good second half too.

Anyway, great to see all three EPL teams progressing ok
