His brilliance did win Italy the world cup, where he contributed as much as Cannavaro to the teams success.

He was very good in the WC also. He was great on the highest level possible, both for his club and his national team.

Personally I think Lameman is overrated. In the EPL VDS and Cech are better, and in Germany I rate Hildebrand higher then him.

You will find it hard to find a more consistent keeper.
The game ended 2-0, but let's not forget that Czech republic played the whole of the 2nd half minus a player (as well as their star striker Koeller)
In the 2nd half (if I remember right), it was just an Italian siege, and Cech did brilliantly to only concede the 1 goal in the 2nd half.

IMHO, as a guy who is watching the Bundesliga on a regular basis, there are at least 2-3 German goalies that are better than Hildebrand in his current form.
Doesn't mean that Hilde is a bad goalie though, definitely not.

I agree with you lot that he hasn't been on form for a while now. But the guy is definately talented. Bare in mind that Wiese,Kahn and Weidenfeller all have better defences infront of them.
