Just imagine i think NEVER in the history of the french league we had the same 3 clubs in champions league ! one year it will be Lyon,PSG and Lille..then Bordeaux,Lyon,Nantes..then Monaco,Marseille Lyon ect ect..taht's the PROOF that our league is full of teams of the same level.

In England it isn't the case...always Arsenal,MU,Pool and Chelsea...BORING and the proof you league is weak..

England are not good enough to be considered amongst the best teams in the world. They are a top 8 team.

Gerrard coming out with this statement is the first step to actually progressing as a team. It's called eating humble pie. At least he has the balls to come out and shatter the dreams of the ignorant and tell it how it is. Blind optimism and tabloid headlines do not win world or european championships.

Gerrard coming out with this confirms what I've said all along....he should be England captain. Not John "average" Terry, who was again made to look like Titus Bramble yesterday without the help of the best defender in the EPL (Gallas) or Makelele.

I'm not having a go- I'm just bringing a sense of perspective to the table. And being German I was simply giving you an insight into how WE viewed YOUR World Cup, just like you are opining on Stevie G and England.

Yup, England werent very good, but my point is that neither were Germany in 2004, infact you were probably worse. But in the space of 2 years, Germany have made a massive transformation. So now 2006 is over with, I dont see the point on dwelling.

BTW, what Gerrard has said is indeed correct. The major thing is that Gerrard in particular needs to know he cant do EVERYTHING. Hence all this bullsh!t about how he and Lampard can work together- they both think are more dynamic and able to defend than in reality.

These players need to become more team orientated, know their role, and stop trying to singlehandedly win games like Beckham did against Greece in 2002.

The major issue with England? Patience. The players are impatient on the pitch, how many times did we see England start relatively well, controlled and then degenerate into panic football? Almost every game- started well against Paraguay (1st half) Sweden (1st half) Trinidad and Tobago (first 30 minutes then panicked): not so Ecuador and Portugal which was up and down throughout..

Mclaren needs to instill in them patience and to play the game over 90 minutes instead of trying to have it won in the first 10.
