    Dani Alves for a mile.

Well said bluenine, Mancini started his career at my fav club. In 2002 he scored 15 goals in 30 matches playing as a right full-back.

My vote would go for Abidal, he's got the whole package, very good at defending, excellent at attacking and passing. Never wastes the ball. That's why in a year he also become no1 left back for the French team.

Shame this topic is about rightbacks really.

It's going to be Dani Alves or Ramos.

At the moment? Sagnol or Zambrotta.

    Obispo,

    As LB: Zambrotta > Zanetti
    As RB: Zanetti > Zambrotta
As left winger: Zambrotta = Zanetti
As right winger: Zanetti > Zambrotta

Both extremely versatile players, but if we are talking purely RB, then it has to be Zanetti.

    Alvez is getting overhyped.

He is NOT presently the best right back in the world - hes amazing attackwise but hes defensively poor and this element is as improtant as the attacking element.

So for me he gets ***** for attacking and *** for defence.

I can think of many fullbacks that better this,

Sagnol being the prime example for me

Yeah, Zanetti is sometimes used as LB to give Grosso a rest... and sometimes used as right winger to give Figo a rest....

But mostly when Zanetti and Maicon play at the right together, and keep interchanging as wingers and backs, its very obvious who is better at it...

as RB, Zanetti >> Maicon this season.

and Maicon has been brilliant this season. But Zanetti plays his best as a RB.

Zanetti has the highest average ratings for an Inter player this season... when you consider that Ibra, Crespo, Stan and so many others are enjoying some of their best form, and that Zanetti has played in 4 different positions, thats a truely remarkable statistic.

Is this another accurate Deisler prediction??? Biggrin

Lahm plays on the left anyway doesnt he; where he has been a bigger success than on the right previously.

    I like Ramos personally.

And Richards, 18, has a great future if he carries on like he is.

Javier Zanetti is the GOD of Right Backs...

However, the following players also command a lot of respect:

    Zambrotta

    Gary Neville

    Sagnol

    Miguel

    Daniel Alves

Lahm is also very good when used there.

Eboue will be up there in a couple of years...

I go with Zanetti still, no one matches defensive soundness of a classic right back with all the skill and trickery of a classic right winger like Zanetti does.

If he was at AC rather than Inter and Brazil rather than Argentina he would easily be mentioned in the same breath as Maldini.

Unbelievable versatility to boot, seen him play everywhere in the park bar striker and keeper and he still often is the best player on the pitch whatever the position.

    very well put ok

His skills (touch, passing, awareness, dribbling etc) are better than maldini that is why he is able to play many positions, but he's not quite as strong defensively. Maldini is more recognised due to playing at a consistently high level and the success of his teams (Milan and Italy), than individually brilliant performances, and has never been that great going forward.
