This proves the point that neville is just not that good. You take a midfielder like geremi, essien, gerrard and they'll do a a better job at right back than neville. They might be slightly less solid defensively, but they have so much more to the rest of their game.

Neville has done remarkably well for a player of limited ability and speed.

    Doh

For the past 6 years he has been consistantly good for Arsenal, what are you basing that opinion on.

Sure I would say that Neville is the better player, but to say Lauren is rubbish is just utter nonsense.

You are thinking over a short period. They might be good there for the odd game, or half a game, or like geremi a short run of games, but over a long period, eventually they would be shown up. Neville is very consistent and it's why he has been very successful. I agree cafu, Zanetti diff class to him.

It's nothing to do with Neville. Lauren is just rubbish, always was the weak link, I saw Eboue for Ivory Coast thought how can he be behind him, soon enough he got a chance, that was it for Lauren. Despite Tweedle telling me Gilbert was better than Eboute Laughing

Lauren is abit like Geremi. Very good attacking right back and against most teams he will look fine but against good sides or good wingers he will have problems.

He'll never get his place back now for instance.

SkySports seemed to disagree. Only the rags like 'The Sun' seemed to take your side. If you look back I said he didn't play bad, I just thought Rio and Scholes were better.

MoTD highlighted the two incidents which you dismissed. <Ale>

Nah he has a very good chance to get back in the side.

Eboue has been good but has cost us at the same time. His histionics vs Spurs at the weekend were embaressing. Also he should of done much better for Dyers goal a few weeks back.

Eboue is a very good player, but not yet the full article.

Really? I know he's not the best defensively but I thought Eboue was having a very good season otherwise.

If Ramos remains at RB for Real Madrid there is no doubt he will be in the top 5 RBs in the world very soon. At the moment I think he is but he needs more games to prove that he will keep this level of performances. Recently had Dinho in his pocket all game, great going forward, great at crossing, goal threat in dead ball situations due to his heading ability. Last night's assist to Ronaldo was a also a thing of beauty. And the guy is only 20!!! Shocked

No 19 year old is worth 27 million. But I don't think any madridista will regret the money we spent on him. He can play with us for at least another 13 seasons and he seems to be a natural born leader. Expect Ramos to be our captain at some point in the future. For such a young defender, I still find it hard to believe just how good and versatile he is. A Madrid legend in the making. No doubt about that Ale

I agree with Torrente, S.Ramos will be one of the best right backs in the world very shortly. I also think he`s a much better right back than he is a center back.
27m was a bit much but i think in the long run he will prove he was worth it.

Well defensively I'd go Zanetti still.

Alvez is close attackwise but he needs to be a regualr in the Brazil squad before we all start calling him 'the best'

For me Zambo is better as a left back, though he is a fantastic right back as well.

Willy Sagnol? He has a good shout

I can probably be more certain of Serie A than of the entire world, so in Serie A J Zanetti is the best, and has been over the last 10 years.

The only one close to him at the mo is Oddo (in Serie A) and then followed by Zaccardo/Panucci/Maicon.

ok Zanetti and cafu were both World Class - of the younger defenders there's no-one that really stands out for me at present, the ones that are mentions are usually wingbacks rather than full backs and lack defensively
