04/05 we were chasing Arsenal from behind. Only last season were we ahead from the start.
I swear the turning point was when Arsenal lost their 49-game unbeaten streak... 11 games in.
they were on top for a few games after that also.
We were still not starting from way ahead as people keep suggesting though.

Mourinho's (brief) comment about the title race, published today on the Chelsea website:
"I see it as two points because three points is Chelsea v Man United. It's a game that depends on us.
"It's important to play against Man United at Stamford Bridge in April with two to three more points than them. That's the situation."

Not really, Chelsea could lose the match draw the match win the match. Everything that is said by him, is clever to put pressure, or play tricks with the mind. Making it seem only 2 points when it was just 8 points. He also said, He expects Man Utd to win the next 4-5 games, it doesn't matter, this is to get them to think if they drop points in one it doesn't matter also.
Lots of what he says is rubbish, as his motives behind saying them, really have nothing to do with what he says.

Actually it's 5 points, and what he has said is that Chelsea has a chance of getting back 3 points of those 5 when you guys come to the Bridge. Therefore, what he is saying is that Chelsea need United to drop 2 points from another match.
If it was any manager other than Mourinho, nobody would really say much in terms of criticism.
Let us not forget that it was Ferguson who started all the mind games in England, which is what I was saying earlier.

I know, But Fergie was being clever then also, and Mourinho is now, half of what he is saying is just nonsense, but said to try and create something.
His comments didn't annoy me. Terry's comments that Man Utd have peaked early, while Chelsea have yet to reach there best, and the ref stuff did.
For me this is just twisted the truth that man utd have played better than chelsea. Nothing to do with peaking early. and the ref stuff not true. I like Mourinho but he has a cheek with the ref comments.

You're serious injuries are Cech and Joe Cole. We have missed Park and Ole Solskjaer, plus Giggs and Neville have missed 4-5 games each.
As for incorrect decisions thats just bollocks as we discussed yesterday.
Chelsea have the individual talent with the potential to play much better than they are collectively and in so doing create more chances and score more goals. Man U are creating lots of chances but the players have to improve as individuals if they are going to take more of those chances. I think the former is more likely to happen. Besides contrary to what someone said Giggs and Scholes are on the way down, they are not going to get better.

I thought he did Hadrada, well i read somewhere, that he had something or other in pyschology. Naturally he should be as good as Fergie at the mind games if true. And he appears to be flexing his skills from where i am standing.

"Manchester United are probably playing the best football they can play at the moment."
True
"They've had very few injuries so far."
True
"Whereas we know as a team we've got another level to go to. We need to take the game to teams and then no-one can live with us. We must go on a run of games and keep winning."
True
"We must keep the pressure up. Christmas is a difficult period. United have got tough games. We must just keep winning and keep on like we know we're capable of."
True
Sounds good to me, if Mourinho said there were 24 hours in a day certain people would say he was arrogant and find some way to disagree with him

Fair enough, I think Rooney and Saha need to improve there finishing, Larsson will help as well.
As for Giggs and Scholes, they are on their way down long term, however I see no reason why there form should just drop off with in this season other than injuries.

oh yea i disagree that they have never played well. it has more to do with the fact that mourinho is hoping that ballack and sheva will transform the team if he waits long enough. this might happen but their best chance of playing well is with robben and maybe joe cole.
if we get Hargreaves though he will slot straight in

Drogba's taunt -
DIDIER DROGBA taunted Alex Ferguson and Manchester United by declaring: My wonder goal won us the title.
The Chelsea hitman reckons his 30-yard thunderbolt which saw off Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday means Jose Mourinho’s men will be crowned champions for the third time running.
Striker Drogba said: “That was the game that won us the title. It was the best goal I’ve ever scored.
“The way we went about scoring those goals show we believe in our destiny.”
United’s lead at the top was cut to two points after they lost 1-0 at West Ham and Chelsea fought back twice to beat Everton.
And Drogba, 28, added: “I know we have shown we have what it takes to be champions again and I think Manchester United know it too.
“United must have been thinking at one time on Sunday that the gap was going to be eight points but now it’s only two.”
Drogba, the Premiership’s top scorer with 10, added: “I think that was the most crucial day of the championship race.
“Of course, there are many points and many games to be won or lost. Now, though, we have the psychological advantage.”

Re: John Terry and Maureen
You'd like this then as well Kimbo
What a great day! Chelsea fought back, twice, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against Everton (and with some magnificent goals). Even better, Manchester United`s defeat against West Ham means that Chelsea have risen above them in the table.
Too many recent games have been perfunctory, if not soul-destroying occasions. Who can forget the Chelsea - Newcastle match, or the game against Bolton. Actually scrap that, who can remember anything about them, so utilitarian and artless were they?
From that point of view, it was a pleasing change to have a game where, at least, we felt some emotional involvement, as the game outcome changed sides. Although we have to restrict the interest to the second half only, there is also the pleasant surprise of managing to score more than 3 goals in a match. That`s before we mention the quality of the goals. They might help anaesthetise the fact that much of what we saw in between the ball stretching the net was often somewhat substandard.
To have fought like that, to have scrapped for a win, not even settling for a point, showed a degree of character and determination that was pleasing to see. It was also witnessed in the Nou Camp, and we very much hope we can see more of this.
And, on top of that, the side at the top of the table (and above us at kick-off), lost yesterday. In Alan Curbishley`s first game as the new West Ham gaffer, he beat Manchester United. It was only 1-0, but it was a defeat nevertheless.
Let`s not be ungracious, we respect everything that Manchester United have managed to do on the pitch so far this season. But it`s hardly personal or unsporting to wish that they falter, even slip up as they did on Sunday, to allow Chelsea to nudge forward.
In addition, we enjoy the opportunity to highlight the fact that, it is just when Fergus (and his mouthpiece clone, Gary Neville) start to make their chest-puffing declarations that often the polar opposite can occur. So this week, when Fergus said of Chelsea`s chances that "Chelsea could find a new level, they could get worse", what a pity that it was, in fact, Manchester United that got worse.
Even more amusing, however, was Gary Neville`s warcry at the end of last week. "Chelsea are five points behind and obviously trying to suggest we are at the peak of our form and maybe we will slip away. I am not so sure we will."
Wise words, Gary.
Small wonder that, having come closer to Manchester United in the table, the bookmakers were involved in a frenzy of adjustments. Whereas, this time last week, Chelsea and Manchester United were sharing pretty much the same odds, this Monday Chelsea`s odds have been slashed to 2/3, with Manchester United drifting to 5/4.
Of course, this is merely a reflection on the fact that Chelsea have risen above Manchester United in the table. Yes, some nit-picking pedants could point out that Chelsea have 42 points and Manchester United 44, but under new laws of mathematics as established last week by José Mourinho, Chelsea are entitled to an additional +3 points as they can already consider that Manchester United`s game at Stamford Bridge is a mere formality. Even better is the fact that, should Chelsea win that match (and if José says that we can, we will), there will not be any complicated goal difference calculation (with Chelsea needing to win 5-0), Chelsea will be ahead of our rivals on points. In fact, we already are.
