... A simple head to head comparison.

    Who is the better player?

In my opinion, forget Rooney, forget Robben, forget Fabregas, forget any other young player in the league,

right now these 2 are currently the best young attacking players in the EPL.

Technically very similar, fast, eye for goal:

Its a shame in the Poll we have to choose because they are two fantastic players. Both are now vital to thee respective clubs although Man Utd are robably more reliant on Ronaldo than we are on van Persie.

Van Persie got my vote - Just. I think he is a player that can turn a game with on moment of brilliance. This is a very unique and rare quality to have. Only top class players have it and van Persie has it so he can go on and possibly emulate his hero Bergkamp.

Stats from this season - It is hard to separate them.

    RVP 26 games (5 as sub ) = 10 goals
    Ronaldo 24 games (1 sub) = 10 goals

    @ TRWP

I think they're very different TRWP.

Ronaldo is all about pace, strength and skill and determination.

RVP shares the skill but doesn't have as much strength of pace and relies a bit more on vision and pulling off a piece of magic. He also has a far superior shot to ronaldo IMO.

In the long run ronaldo will be the more famous player, better? not so sure

Doesn't have anywhere near as much as RVP, doesn't mean he lacks it as much as I used to think though.

Ignore biased views anyway, only votes fro non man utd and arsenal fans should be counted

For me Ronaldo is the better player currently and will probably be a better player over the next few seasons. Van Persie has tremendous ability though and is starting to add consistency to his obvious talent so who knows how good he can become.

He has scored a lot of goals and set up a reasonable number this season but doesn't seem to have attracted many plaudits from the media. Hopefully he will continue his good form into the new year.

Off topic but on the subject of comparisons, has Gilberto scored as many goals in all comps as Rooney this season?

Well at present he is hollands best player by a long way, much in the same was as ronaldo is for Portugal.

the difference between the two players isn't as vast as the united fans would like to think

Ronaldo CAN change a match, he does have vision and he can produce magic.

what I said if you re-read is that RVP 'relies a bit more on vision and pulling off a piece of magic'

I think so. Just checked Sky Sports and it says Gilberto has 8, presumably that is updated to include yesterday's goal. Great contribution from Gilberto so far, even if he has scored a number of penalties he has scored more goals than most forwards in the league and is playing as a defensive midfielder.

Cesc: Add the goals against Pompey and Watford and you've got 8

Im neither Dutch nor an Arsenal fan, and Im saying Van Persie.

No doubt facing the wrath of United fans, but I just think he's a better team player than Ronaldo. No one can deny Ronaldo's end product, but he still has an annoying knack of shooting or dribbling when a clear blatant pass is on. He's also far shitter at free kicks than Van Persie, yet almost always decides to take them and shoot from ridiculous angles.

For me, I look at which player I'd rather play with, and van Persie currently wins it. His vision is exceptional, and he is just about the most elegant player in the Prem.

Hmmm, this poll had to come some day. Both are not only the most talented players, but at this current rate also the best players in the EPL. Both are finally showing some endproduct, they can both play almost anywhere in the attacking positions. Ronaldo has more pace, but is still a bit chaotic on the finnishes. The wings suit him best imo.

Rvp however dont have that pace, but he is more direct then Ronaldo. He gained more selfcontrol at Arsenal, he is best at the "Number ten" behind a striker, or Second striker. Tho he has been abused alot as a winger.

Allthough, these players, how weird it may sounds, are harder to compare then you think. But since I have to choose, Ill go with van Persie, just because you know what you can expect from him.

I just prefer the visionary team players over the dazzling individuals, hence why I rate Carrick/Scholes so highly <Ale>
