He is probably our best player this season.

He is by far Arsenal's best player this year. Did you see how they started to believe again when he came on!!! And he is very consistent this year!!

did u see fergie's face when he came on? he was on the touchline talking to his players... he rates Robin very high.

he can only blame himself everybody knew Robin was talented. Arsenal's scouts stayed when Robin was banned to the Reserves and spotted his desire to be the best.

Hehe, yeah he knew what was comming. But that a slightly injured Rvp could made such an impact. Damn Fergie must be pissed tonight. Biggrin

Ronaldo not a big game player???

    Euro 2004 & WC 2006?

    4-2 at Highbury in 2004?

+ RVP has 2 years on him.

Ronaldo is dominating the league in a similar manner to which Robben was dominating in 2003-04. RVP has yet to do this.

He didn't play an amazing game, but I don't like people saying he had some sort of abysmal game when he had an huge impact as a supersub and made his tough goal under pressure (which he created something out of nothing) that turned the game around and discredit it as a simple tap in.

In EC04 Ronaldo had an impact but not as big at its made out to be - he was still very much the show pony without end product. To a lesser degree as well during WC06 (with the exception of the game against England), which is more remembered for his diving and Figo, Deco and Maniche's performance. Crap in the first two 1st round games, subbed out of both, sat out the third game, injured against Netherlands, came back against England, and sunk back again for the other two games.
He was more impressive during the qualification for the WC than the WC itself IMHO.

RVP was wasted by Wenger for two years. First year as the Diva couldn't handle competition, and then as Wenger stuck out with the 8-fold more expensive Reyes in hope to get his money back. As obvioulsy talented as RVP was, a possible "failure" of him due to lack of games was in the better interest than benching the heartless underperforming Reyes who was a financial liabilty.
This is the first *real* season of RVP in Arsenal's starting line-up. Ronaldo's had that undisputed luxury for 3 and a half seasons so far.

    Ronaldo > RVP

    Simple as ..

One game does not prove anything, the course of the season

One of them has helped his team go top and a chance of winning the Premiership.

Portugal were hosting Euro 2004 they were looking pretty average, then Ronaldo comes on as sub scores, forces his way into the team, gets an assist in his next game, plays well agianst spain, Portugal go through to next round. Man of the match against Holland, scoring and assisting and giving Robben a lesson in wing play. Ps were was RVP despite being 2 years older than him?

WC 2006 scores in group stages, comes up against Hollan MVB realises hes the most dangerous player on pitch so instructs the hatchet man Bhoularouz to take him out. Comes back against England, still injured scores the most important penalty. Best player on the pitch against France, unfortunately Pauletta is useless so they lose to a dodgy penalty.

RVP didnt make the grade in euro 2004 and in WC 2006 scores a goal in group stages, refuses to pass to Robben out of jealousy, doesnt pass to RVN because he wants to score and prove he is better than Robben, does nothing against Portugal espite having a man advantage, Holland go home.

Ronaldo started because he is a great player, I dont care about politics, the only politics in football is winning and if someone can win you a game you play them. If RVp was that much better than Reyes at the time he would have played. Ronaldo despite being 2 years younger has achieved more than him. He is already better than him and when he is RVP age will be one of the best players in the world.

    Simple as ..

One game does not prove anything, the course of the season

One of them has helped his team go top and a chance of winning the Premiership.

It isn't really that clear cut.

Yes Ronaldo has scored 2 more than RVP but RVP has been far better in Europe that ronaldo.

Its simple as a Utd fan to say that one is a lot better than the other but he isn't that much better.

Sure he has more pace but he doesn't have the vision of rVP

    @ Tweedle

Vision is something Ronaldo need to improve in his game, so he can get to the next level .. he has shown some signs (i.e. Rooneys goal v Man City)

He has the pace, shooting, ability in the air already..

Plus he needs to transfer his Premiership form into Europe, if Manchester United are going to mount a challenge.

One thing i worry about RVP is, he uses his left foot more often (OK its his stronger feet) but imagine if he was 'two footed' ..

Unlike RVP he is not a striker so goals are not the be all and end all of his game. He has two assists and was MOTM in both games against Befica this season. He played well away at Celtic as well. I am happy for him to not score in the whole tournament as long as he is MOTM against all the good teams we face.

RVp is a very good player, Ronaldo is a great player. It is no disrespect to RVP is it. He is playing well for you guys, is that not enough. If they both went on sale tommorrow, who do you think would be more in demand?
