Apologies if it has been discussed elsewhere already, but what do you guys make of this story about Hughes?

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2049617,00.html

.......I just can't believe he is what Abramovich wants. It has to be smokescreen (as has been the story about Hiddink and 2 managers system) and you're looking to bring in a Really Big Name ....Scolari, Lippi ?

Apparently the 2nd manager would be Avram Grant, currently one of the assistants at Portsmouth. Mind-boggling where all these random rumours come from!

Does it bother you that half of the team wants to shag Carlo Cudicini?

FYI Jeffrey Bruma the 15 year old you robbed from Feyenoord will get £ 4,000 / month.

Was wondering does anyone know what other kids of his age get at Chelsea?

Yep a while ago, haven't seen him lately. Talented skilled midfielder for sure (but no new Van Persie imo). Actually I was more worried about other players from our U16s (Jeffrey played a few times for our U18s too), since it was known Chelski, like a few other clubs inlcuding Arsenal, were visiting our U16 matches. Which isn't that weird, since there are loads of kids oozing class in that team.

Maybe u should recommend one of them to Wenger Wink

Looks like your clubs future is bright having so many talented kids around.

Just hope Wenger will sign de Guzman. He'll go for sure in the near future, if he goes let it be the Arsenal.

I'm looking forward to that generation being able to play first team footy in a few years. But I'm sure that even if they'll all deliver, Feyenoord will fuck up in some kind of way, we're real good at that.

Good to see that Jose was able to rest 5 players for the Valencia game, but we were able to dig deep and get the 3 points.

Why can't Robinson save long shots either? I know it was a good finish in the end, but like Silva's goal against us on Wednesday there was a hint of fortune in the goal.

    Essien in Euro fitness battle

Ghanaian Michael Essien is battling to be fit for Chelsea's Champions League trip to Valencia on Tuesday but he insists his team-mates can triumph without him.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been sidelined with a knee injury since an FA Cup tie on 11 March but is getting ever closer to a return.

His availability would be a welcome boost for coach Jose Mourinho as Essien's thrust in midfield was notably absent in the 1-1 first-leg draw with Valencia on Wednesday.

Yet the Ghanaian believes Chelsea's fighting spirit will secure a second semi-final berth in three years under Mourinho.

"For me, one of the best things about this Chelsea team is that we never give up," said Essien, who has never progressed past the Champions League quarter-finals.

"Even when we go behind, we can change things around and still come back right up until the very end.

"Luckily, we've got the experience and the strength in the team to be able to do that and it's helped us on many occasions.

"But we work really hard to get into the kind of condition where we can keep going and going.

"We have to believe that even though we are away from home in the second leg, we can still score goals.

"We have the belief in ourselves that we can do it and get through to the semi-final."

Victory would keep Chelsea on course for success in three more competitions this season.

The Blues have already bagged the Carling Cup and they are still in the hunt for the Premiership title, the FA Cup and, of course, the Champions League.

It is a situation that Essien has never experienced before but is determined to enjoy.

"We've played more games than any other club in England," he said.

"Every three days, we've had to play a game and for us the intensity of every game is so great because we are fighting all these competitions and want to do well.

"But I don't find it too hard - my system has got used to it. And football is what I love doing.

"I love playing in as many big games at possible. It also means we're doing well.

"Hopefully, we can win the maximum number of trophies."
