I think if the points are level it goes to goal difference. If that is level then it goes to who has scored the most goals. Not sure what the next step is.

play-offs at neutral venues, unsure of exactly how many legs this play-off would have.

Maybe just a one-off game at Wembley.

Done on goal difference. Man Utd's goal difference is around +52, whilst ours is +37.

So much for 'controlling the fixture list' Mr Ferguson...

Yesterday, Saturday, was the last time in the Premiership this season that Chelsea play before Manchester United.

In the remaining six fixtures, United kick off first in three, one is between the two teams, and the remaining two kick off at the same time.

Yesterday was the first time since Chelsea beat Manchester City on 14 March and levelled the number of games played, closing the gap at the top of the table to six points, that we had the opportunity to play first and further close the gap to three points.

That was done, first temporarily by beating Tottenham, and then conclusively when United lost to Portsmouth last night.

I think SAF was talking about the time Spurs had to play Chelsea away .. 39hours after they played Sevilla in the UEFA Cup, maybe that game should be played at 5:15 and Manchester United's trip to Portsmouth at 3:00

    Classic Jose:

'I have played here with Barcelona and the supporters do not score the goals. I imagine they will support their team and they will do a good job on that, but they don't get goals. There is only one occasion when the supporters scored a goal and that was the Liverpool fans against us in the Champions League.

No news on whether Essien will play tonight or not. If he is passed fit, he's likely to start in a 4-4-2 midfield diamond. If he isn't, I think JM will start Kalou and go 4-3-3, with Joe Cole coming on if we need to score with 20 minutes to go.

Don't care about the performance, the result is all that matters. I expect us to start off with slow build up play, although for once I'd actually like to see us come out the blocks from the beginning (but all the time we only need a 0-1, Jose would never do that).

Barça tabloid SPORT has had an article linking Lampard to us every day for the past 2-3 days. Apparently they're certain his contract extension talks with Chelsea have broken down once and for all. Any idea of whether this is true?

I hope not...please just give him what he wants and keep him.

But you have to put an end to smurfism, that's for sure. If not Lampard (who is not like Van Bommel at all I might add), you still need some steel in the midfield. That doesn't mean that the player has to be technically inept, both are not mutually exclusive.
