They'd be wrong to do so aswell, seen as there was genuine contact.

Wasnt a penaly though. I actually agreed with Wright there, the ball was too far gone and it wasnt a malicious tackle.

Question but he was fouled SP so what's your point?

That they would have put reputation before reality with those 2 (and it was a pen imo)

But Agger was moving forward at pace... Henry just knocked it to his side. Nobody has the balance to change directions immediately.

I'll praise his endevour and the fact that he had the vision to notice that there was plenty of space available to him, nothing else though. Carragher was poor and Dudek was shit.

    Irrelevent.

It wasn't malicious but there was certainly contact. I don't think the ball was that far gone either, it was up in the air.

It was clearly a foul and thus a penalty. I won't say something ridiculous like "he should have been sent off" because that's not true. It was hardly a clear cut chance, but there was a foul nonetheless IMHO.

I don't see how it cannot be a penalty to be honest. he fouled him inside the box. couldn't care less where the ball is. it was a foul. kuyt was also fouled in the second half. but the ref was poor all day. he also booked a few arsenal players for F all and failed to book them on other occasions for assualt.

Congrats on the win though. I hate playing arsenal more than any other team and you managed to score 3 goals today without ever looking threatening. wenger probably got his tactics right on the day but lets hope there is no more moaning about teams sitting back against you and assualting you after that performance Wink

I agree with Obispo - Kuyt's touch was dodgy, he misplaced passes, couldn't hold it up properly - a poor game from him. Crouch was better, but not much.
crouch was the main reason they could squeeze the game so much although saying that if we had delivered any sort of service into him he would have been lethal against toure and senderos. but with garcia constantly jinking into the 10 man defence and losing it as you say it was futile. gonzalez would have been a better option with hindsight. I don't really blame gerrard and alonso because they had to pass through a compressed minefield to wingers who were not wide enough and attackers who didnt stretch the game enough. shame rafa didnt take a risk on bellamy. pathetic tactics from arsenal really but they worked on the day as rosicky saved their skin so wenger will be very happy

I don't see that Bellamy would have done much against a defence that barely got 20 yards away from its own goal. Admittedly, Bellamy would taken men on from time to time, but there wasn't really the space in the game for him to exploit.

Crouch got another flick on for the goal, thus demonstrating what we keep saying about his aerial ability.

Gerrard and Alonso both did alright, as did Pennant, as did Garcia. No one did 'well' though, and that was the problem. When you needed a lift, there wasn't one. You didn't get a single free kick in a wide area today, and not too many corners. Someone willing to run at Arsenal's defence probably would have won you more of these set pieces.

And we all know that Arsenal are weak on set pieces, defensively - indeed, your goal came from one, which was no surprise at all.

You see, it all fits together, and I for one am not convinced that Rafa got it right today.

I wouldn't be too harsh on Carragher, he took a calculated risk. At 2-1 down priority was keeping pressure on. He could and maybe should have put the ball out for a throw, but then we'd have spend 5 minutes cuddling Henry at our own corner flag. 9 times out of 10 no goal would have been conceded, Henry would have shot wide, given the ball away or seen his weak attempt saved.

To be fair, Carragher put us out of our misery.

I don't think it was a penalty, because Alonso goes over well before the foul occurs.

    But the referee was poor.

    ok

not a stonewall pen, not a booking wither.

Ref was quite erratic the whole game I thought, made some good decisions and some very strange ones
