I think this deserves it's own thread.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/6233307.stm

£5m is a bit steep for a 29 year old, BUT he's one of the best left wingers in the premiership IMO. He's strong and skillful, with a good left foot. Better than Etherington that's for sure. ok

Very good player. One of the best players outside the top 4. ok

If they do manage to get SWP and Bent, they still have a good chance to get out of the bottom 3.

Yeah, I think it is a good signing.

Now all the Hammers need is a new defence, two more cm's and two strikers.

    good signing Curbs

I'm worried about Matty Etherington tho, he's a good left mid, will he loose his chance of getting into the England squad now?

will Curbs change the English face of west ham?

I would hope so. He's very average IMO, Barry, Taylor, Milner, and Downing are all better options for the left.

I quite like Etherington, but let's face it, he was never in the England reckoning.

Depends where Curbishly wants to play Boa Morte too, he's a good winger but he can play across the midfield or up front.

great signing, was Fulhams best player IMO also liked Boupa Diop and Malbranque when he was there.

Can we have Javier now then? Very Happy

Fantastic signing....now all we need is SWP the other side and our midfield is good enough...

we then need a striker and 2 defenders...

Curbishley clearly dislikes the Argentinians. His interview on SSN says it all, he even refuses to answer a speculative question on there qualities and literally tries to change the subject. Doh

Boa Morte is a very good signing for West Ham, but, they'll probably need to sign a couple more Portuguese players if they are to avoid relegation.

BBC says both Newcastle and Benfica were interested.

I knew about Newcastle, and still think he would've done well for them, but I missed any news regarding Benfica. I remember there being speculation about him coming to Sporting, but not Benfica.

    Did I miss something Johninho?

We were interested about a year and a half ago but they wanted too much money, something like £8m. The left is one of our strongest positions now though. ok

Yea, I remember. You do have Zog and he semed a good prospect when Sporting played Newcastle a couple seasons back.

I still think Emre got the chance Viana never did...

He has, but i can't say i'm a fan of Emre. He's muscled out of it far too easily, he has temper problems, and is very inconsistent. He's certainly not worth his 60k a week wages. For me Parker, Dyer, and Butt should all be ahead of him.

Viana probably wouldn't have done any better.

Perhaps not, but he ddin't even get a chance.

He's better-off in Spain I'd say anyways, although he's still struggling to find his best form again. However, he's turning it around I hear.

Obviously not for that kind of cash, he was linked to Sporting but it's not like we have any dough.

On a free it would've been..his Fulham contract was almost up.

So you don't remember anything then? It's was probably Sporting and the BBC messed up.
