I am 99% sure that Saviola has no future at Barcelona, however the club and the player is locked in a battle.
FC Barcelona insists on selling the player, for 3 main reasons.
1) Saviola earns app. 3.5 million euros a year (fixed).
2) FC Barcelona still owes River a final instalments of 6 million euros.
3) Rijkaard does not beleive that Saviola fits into the current system.
Saviola on the other hand does not want to take a wage cut and only wants to leave on loan. The reason behind this is that Saviola is out of contract next year and can, of course, gain more if he is on a free transfer.
Saviola has been linked to: Arsenal, Bolton, Sevilla, Zaragossa, Racing, Espanyol, Fenerbache, Galatasaray etc.
IMHO this reeks of a battle between Laporta and a player agent. Laporta has been busy cleaning out all players from the Gaspart era, while the player is very content in holding on to a wage structure that no longer exists at Barcelona (and is grossly exaggerated compared to the other players, eariing more than players like Giuly, Márquez Guddy etc.). It is also said that Rijkaard dislikes Saviola after his sending off against Celtic (which left the team without strikers for the return leg in the UEFA).
Hopefully sense will prevail and the player will be allowed to leave on loan (as even a little money is better than Saviola being stuck in the reserves) if no one is willing to buy him, but a the moment the club and player is testing eachother..
Personally I would like him to stay if he is willing to sign a new flexible wage contract.
