We should start a thread about our clubs worst signings. I think both our teams would be close ...

Barça beat the 76ers yesterday 104-99, the first time a club from the ACB beats a club from the NBA!

I believe there was a story when Gaspart was trying to sign Buffon but it didn't work out. Then he signed Cristanval the next day without having a clue about him at all. I'm not very clear on the particulars though. Anyone remember this story?

Rochemback was something special.
First of all, who convinced him that he can play football???
And second, the amount that we payed for him...i think it was near 20mil. marks od dollars, i cant remember.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Apparently Laporta "jokingly" said to the Boca president over dinner "Don't sell Gago to Madrid, eh? We're interested in him too".
Has anyone here watched Gago play? Could we maybe play him in Xavi's deeper role, with Xavi/Iniesta moving further forward to replace Deco?

Ask Barrilete
All I've seen heard are what people on here have regurgitated.
He is allegedly a superb deep lying defensive midfielder/playmaker - Riquelme but with better physical attributes and less skill and end product.
Not sure if you need him to be honest - its a strange one.
You don't want to turn into Chelsea

True, that's why I have my doubts because I'm in the same boat as you - never watched him, only heard 2nd hand reports of how he plays. And based on that, I don't see how he'll fit into the team.
Mascherano is all of a sudden my new no. 1 transfer target

Would do well in Spain
May be lacking in the CL a bit though - your centre would seriously lack heading ability

Yeah. I didn't watch the game though.
this was like Chelsea being beaten in the States when they played their first game of the pre-season, though. The sixers weren't there to play a competitive match. Still a good result. If anything it'll boost moral at Barça.

I think its Gago he's talkin about
I would love it if Gago moved to us mainly because motta i injury-prone and so is edmilson and plus eddy's in his 30's so gago would be a good replacement

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
I WANT Poulsen.. we don't need a creative defensive midfielder.. we need someone who can take out the other team's main player, work 100% the full match, and be really good at heading and tackling.
we already have Xavi, Iniesta, Deco and maybe Jefren as the creative types.. we need some STEEL..

Sevilla won't set go of Poulsen, could Mascherano/Lucho be satisfactory option B for you

Mascherano could be.. but I am a little bit concerned that he doesn't seem very good in the air.. Lucho is a good player, but I don't know what position he is best at: central midfield, defensive midfield, winger etc. A utility player IMO. I would like to see a Gattuso-type player at the club and I am not too concerned about whether the player can do smart little dribbles or flicks, since that wouldn't be his role any way.
