Not as if, Gerrard would have single handily win Manchester United any trophies .. or could he have?

Somehow he is Roy Keane's favourite 'non Man United' English player

Houllier wanted to sign Ronaldo before SAF .. shame Liverpool didn't not pursued it.

Didn't Liverpool reject Rooney as a youth?

No idea if we rejected him or not. Would explain why he's so obsessed with us. Maybe we rejected Neville too...

I read that houllier said, he had him for 6 mill, but then his agent phoned him and said the deal is off, 1 week later he joined us for 12 mill.

Yeah, that's what Thommo said aswell. Think it was £5mil though, but that's basically the story that's come out of the Houllier camp about the whole thing.

Guess we'll just pay double the price now instead.

Laughing maybe double it again just one more time after that to be sure

JAVIER MASCHERANO has put his foot in it before he has even kicked a ball for Liverpool — by insisting he cannot wait to become a Red Devil.

The Argentine midfielder is still seeking clearance to make his Anfield debut, having ended his nightmare stay at West Ham on deadline day last week.

But while Mascherano is kicking his heels, perhaps he should swot up on his new club — as he referred to the Kop kings as the Red Devils, the nickname of bitter rivals Manchester United.

He said: “I have disconnected myself from West Ham and signed a contract with Liverpool.

“I can consider myself a Red Devil. It’s now just up to the Premier League to authorise me to play, something I believe should happen because it was they who made the appeal to FIFA to allow me to move clubs. I hope the situation is resolved as soon as possible.”

The 22-year-old midfielder is desperate to get going in England after a disastrous spell at Upton Park.

And he reckons chatting with Reds boss Rafa Benitez — a fellow Spanish-speaker more than did the trick.

He added: “I spoke to Benitez in Spanish and I must admit it was helpful speaking the same language.

“Benitez asked me if I wanted to stay in England or if I’d prefer to go elsewhere. When I told him I wanted to play this football and prove that I can adapt to it, he fought to sign me.”

It's not his fault. He stopped his English lessons before Christmas because Curbishley wasn't playing him.

He'll soon learn. He'll have Ronaldo to teach him the difference between the clubs. No one will know better than him after he completes his move Cool

Rafa Benitez is hoping to hear by Monday whether Javier Mascherano can play for Liverpool.
The Argentine is training at Melwood but cannot don a red shirt until the Premier League approves the move.

"Mascherano is training with us because he needs to be fit. We are waiting for an answer, maybe it will come today, maybe Monday," said Benitez.

"I think this will be positive. Mascherano is a very good player, he's professional and he needs to play football.

"This is not easy for him but he is happy when he is training. He's waiting for some news and it's not easy.

"He was not playing every week so he'll need time. You can be fit but you must be fit for the tempo."

For those that haven't seen it this is a very good summary of THAT final with a suprisingly good (if incredibly middle of the road) A-HA song as the soundtrack.

I think it works really well, thought the 'pool fans would like it if they haven't already seen it.

    Stirring stuff.

If only their where a compilation of that forum from when Milan's third goal went in till Xabi's goal. The forum comments at that time are more memorable than the game itself.

I'd like to see Aurelio at left back, and Riise left mid, but Rafa tends to do it the other way around.

Just watched the first half now and I've got a fair degree of sympathy for Reina with regards to the cock-up. It was definitely a mistake but given the speed he was moving towards the ball at, he had no time to adjust the angle and he was never going to get the height required on that surface. He - and Harper actually - cocked up a fair share of all clearences first half.

    Part mistake, part fluke.

Agger's having his worst game this season aswell to be honest. Hopefully he'll see it as a learning curve (I've read he got alot better as the game got on). It's obvious he's never played a striker/midfielder like Dyer before. He's playing inbetween the lines and forcing Agger to get close to him - perhaps because we don't have an Alonso/Mascherano/Hamann in that area as Gerrard and Momo are all over the place?

Agger's just getting sucked into the midfield and then getting done for pace with balls in behind the defence. He'll learn from it though.

Haha no chance in hell. Deco doesn't have the pace to run in behind the defence.

How we lost this match I'll never know. 'Zactly the same as the Blackburn match really. Shit finishing. Nothing Rafa could have done... Kuyt in particular wasted a glorious chance.

Atleast we've got the mistakes out of our system before the match against UNICEF FC.

Been a while since I was last on here..........anyway

Obviously a frustrating result today but,

Nothing to get overly disheartened about and start going on a rampage. We didnt play shit. We played well, enough to win the game but simply we didnt take our chances and paid the price.

The pitch didnt help but both keepers did make mistakes. sad thing is that we didnt take our chances when Newcastle did:roll:
