This season will go down as 'progress' however im slightly dissapointed we've done so poorly domestically out of both cups and lack of title credentials.

Next season however looks bright, and i imagine a couple of additions will have us pushing for the league title.

we said that last season though.

    Yup, yup.

I reckon we'll see the league in the next two seasons, maybe next year, just depends on how many new faces we bring in. If it's more than 3 then we may have to wait a year. Unless, of course, we're talking about a 4th choice striker or a back-up goalkeeper. Neither of which will really get loads of chances.

But the variable like now is the summer transfers, i've said from day one our transfer policy in the summer would not work and have thus far been proven correct.

The difference now is that with the investment, we might be able to command higher transfer fees allowing us the eligibility to offer bids of a substantially higher value than we have been ableto, increasing the potential market opportunity for players and the ability to close deals for targeted players without having to pull out due to the transfer fee becoming unattainable.

I invite you to read through our team thread on the Leagues board or the match thread on the Cups board...together they should have enough explanations and analysis from all of us Barcelona fans on this board.

Anyone watch Jimmy Hill this morning? Typical Liverpool bias media the mancs would tell us Rolling Eyes

Literally less than 15 seconds of blatantly grudging praise for Rafa. "Well done also to Rafa Benitez for his team selection in Barcelona... Right, moving on, heh heh".

    Erm

Still, I suppose it was far more interesting to hear about Beckham and England for the 500th time. Oh, and don't forget 15 minutes on how 'ard "JT" is.

Good good. I'd like to see how he holds up against slightly stronger opposition that Sheffield, ie United. If he plays anywhere near his world cup form, then he has to be a first team regular.

He wont play against United, It will be Alonso and Momo in the centre i'm sure of it, but he's definately a great player to have in the squad, and can be very efective for us particularly next season

quietly effective is the only way you can describe him really which IMO compliments gerrard perfectly. every single time gerrard bombed forward you could see mascherano immediately drop backwards. it's vital because with a high risk player like gerrard there he'll lose the ball a lot and mascherano cut off so many counter attacks striaght away yesterday. I was more impressed with him than I thought I was going to be.

Other strengths were his compsure on the ball and ability to run and be comfortable in possesion which will give him an edge over sissoko against teams that park the bus and we need more creatvity to break down

the one minus I saw from him yesterday is that he was brushed off the ball a few times so he will have to work on his strength.

    very good debut performance though

    cheers cheers
Great! I does still seem obvious that although he compliments Gerrard in the middle, he'll be pushed out to the right for the majority of the rest of the season, with all the central talent we have, and Pennants shitness.

I don't mind though. When he plays on the right, he scores more goals.

pennant is far from shit CT. maybe not the world class talent you want obviously but he is a very good player and has been one of our best players for the past month or so

it's all about options though CT. we now have 4 central midfielders each containing differing quailties that provide beintiez with just about all the attributes he'll need for a full season of games.

and for 1.5 million for 18 months of service how could we be anything other than happy
