Inter's target for the summer: Messi/Ronaldo Empty Inter's target for the summer: Messi/Ronaldo

Post by bluenine Fri Feb 09, 2007 11:42 am

To celebrate our 100th year, Morratti has promised an investment of £65 Million to add to an already star studded squad this summer... THE CENTENARY BONANZA....from a need point of view, Inter just need a replacement for Figo. So there is lot of speculation on who will Inter splash on, knowing Moratti, a world record transfer is not out of bounds.... he has already broken the world record transfer fee twice in his 11 year reign.

Scenario: The "Bonanza" is a Figo replacement

Target#1: Messi - We know that Moratti is a big fan, and this is starting to resemble the situation that led to Inter's hostile takeover of Ronaldo in 97. Will Barca be able to say no to a £50M bid?? I doubt it.

Target#2: C Ronaldo - he is doing very well this season, and if he has any sense in his head, he will stay with the team where he has started gelling. But then, the lure of $$$ has undone a lot of great players.... and the Glazers are unlikely to refuse anthing in the range of £40M

The other prospects include Quaresma and Nani, but those will not be considered by interisti as the promised "bonanza". If Nani replaces Figo at Inter, then the fans are going to expect a "Bonanza" elsewhere, and knowing Moratti, they will get it! So lets consider:

Scenario 2: Bonanza is not a Figo Replacement!

Target#1: There is a rumour doing the rounds that Inter plan to do a Milan on Milan by going after Shevchenko... that would make me smile Wink Chelsea would be ready to sell him at £20M by now.

Target#2: Ballack - The unsettled german is be a fine replacement for Vieira, infact I think Ballack+Cambiasso will be a better midfield partnership than Vieira+Cambiasso. It will also keep Stankovic on his toes.

Target#3: This one sounds like pure fantasy - Inter will engage Milan in a bidding war for Ronaldinho over the summer... with a £65M budget, anything is possible. But something like this will surely do good for Serie A's image, specially considering the fact that Juve are earmarking a HUGE budget for this summer as well...

So my prediction.. or more like a logical deduction!: One out of these 5 players (Messi, C Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Ballack, or Ronaldinho) is going to be an Inter player this summer. It just makes sense.

Actually I would prefer Messi, I can see him becoming a huge success in Serie A!

C Ronaldo, I am not so sure. If I were him, I would stay put!

Be a shame though as we don't get Italian games on Bravo anymore and I love watching Messi.

Would you not be worried that he's missed alot of games through injury so far in his career?

Yeah, I heard it too... I think it started from a comment from Mancio that Cassano is very talented and not out of Inter's considerations set... but later he mentioned that all he said was "yes" to some very leading questions...

Personally i think Inter have problems accomdating most of their squad players, and already have a large squad, although i dont mind them signing either CR & Messi, sure as feck would put them in title contentio for next 3/4 seasons.

But i dont see Messi leaving Farsa...hopefully im wrong.

Unfortunately, thats not how this works...

Laporta will hold on to Messi for much more than he is actually worth... and Moratti will be game to pay far more for Messi than he is actually worth... its more to do with Fantasy, Egos, Politics, and sheer football mania than logic.

No doubt, neither club wants to sell which is what matters.

But you can see CR crying about a transfer ala last summer, where as Messi is hardly in the media and is always bum licking Barca for bring him to spain etc.

Didn't work last summer when he had a real reason to want to leave due to the victimisation in the media.

Less likely to happen this summer either.

If he doesn't renew his contract he'll probably leave in 2008. However he could be signing a new contract anytime soon.

Possibly, but ManU is more business savvy and is run much more professionally than their Italian and Spainsh counterparts... I think what that means is that every player has a price point. And it also means that ManU are unlikely to pay £50M for a player (unless he is actually worth it!).

Laporta, however, will be much more possessive of his little star. And Moratti much more liberal with his money to satisfy his fantasy.

And as a young player, Messi represents more "fantasy" than any player since Ronaldo was a teenage phenomenon from Brazil. IMO Messi is one of the very few players in the world (along with Kaka and Ronaldinho) who can break the world record transfer fee. I still don't consider players like C Ronaldo, Adriano or Robinho in that bracket, even tho they could easily get there (or as in Adriano's case, have fallen from there!).

Yeah, but last summer he was valued under £20 Million by most... now I can see Inter tabling a over £30M bid for him. Its a lot of money, and Glazer is a greedy american with large debts Wink

Anyways, even I hope this does not happen. I rather have Mancini... much cheaper, and already proven in Serie A.
