I have serious doubts on Robben being able to perform in Serie A... I think he suits the EPL much more than Serie A.... player to player, I prefer Mancini if they are equally priced.

    @ bluenine

In 1997 Serie A was far and away the best league in Europe. Spain was a big league but lcked depth back then - the roles are reversed now.

Also back then Barca had a lot of debt that needed clearing.

    Really?

Robben is three years younger than Mancini though.

At PSV and in his first season at Chelsea he was one of the most exciting wingers on the planet

    @Bluenine

I dont hink Inter can get any of the two players mentioned, Man U never ever sell players they want and it wont change now. Barca are la liga and european champions and by far the best team in the world, Messi has no reason to leave and barca dont need to sell him.

Robben, if he stays fit is a wonderful player, he would run rings around alot of defenders in Seri A. However he is still one of Chelseas best players and they probably wouldnt sell him to you, besides they have done enough for the inter cause by giving you Veron and crespo.

Inter may buy a big player, but it wont be these two players.

I guess only time will tell. I am certain Moratti will make one HUGE signing, dunno who yet... but is not Messi/Ronaldo, then someone as "big"... take my word for it, I have come to understand our Presidente very well...

Personally, I am quite happy with the team we have now, as it is. And Figo anyways is a bench player, Javier Zanetti has taken over the winger role! Inter don't need to spend big money...

the smart choice would be robben as i rate as the best winger in the world on form. i disagree with you blunine that robben wouldnt fit serie a. one of the best things about robben is that he is sooo good at being direct and is very fast and goes past players with ease.

Yeah, but pace does not have the same impact in Serie A... its much more skill based....

Not saying that Robben won't succeed, just that there is a good chance he will not be as effective as he is in EPL... and that means he will not be good enough for Inter. IMO Mancini is the best winger in Serie A, and a much safer bet than Robben...

    Robben is incredibly skillful too!

If you basing your opinions of him on his Chelsea form last season then you're well wide of th mark bluenine

i think that he would be a great choice and sensible one but as you say it might not be the type of player morrati wants and robben prob wouldnt be either.

Robben is alright. but will be injured 4 months of every season, in seria a they could mark him out of games much easier

i havent watched it this season, in previous years the build up is so different, he would have to run from his own half to do what he does in the prem, you just cant do that

Lrd is right here... in Serie A, the play is more closed and making space for pacey runs is more difficult... A player like Robben will get a much tighter marking than he does now, and will be fouled/stopped more...

What I am trying to say is that the characteristics of a player like Messi are much more suited to Serie A than a player like Robben, whose characteristics are more suited to a league like EPL...

I do rate Robben as a player, one of the best wingers in business.

Messi is very fast and also enjoys these long runs with the ball. I think he is very similar to Robben in playing style eventhough I think Messi is more explosive.

Maybe the right winger you want is Maxi Rodriguez.. He was unbelievable last season. I wish we would go for him..

Maxi, good call ok Would love to see him at Inter!

IMO Messi is better at negotiating thru tight spaces than Robben. C Ronaldo is somewhere in between, and at the centre of a big debate at the interlist at the mo.... I can see him doing very well at Serie A, but also can visualise him lying on the ground most of the time... coz there will be more tackles and the corresponding tolerance to hitting the ground... I am not sure about C Ronaldo, interisti are evenly divided on that one. Messi and Mancini have an almost unanimous approval, while Robben most interisti are not comfortable with, mostly coz of his injuries...
