Less money if there is a winner today. Not every league after all wants to be poor like the Dutch. Devil

    Bad for England then.

Robinson, Cole, Woodgate, Neville, Ferdinand, Lampard, Carrick, Lennon & Rooney all will be knackered.

Jol SERIOUSLY choked. Oh my god to throw that game away is criminal. Backs to the walls against a physically powerful Chelsea is just asking for it.

    Mido on for Burgertop Laugh

In reality Spurs could have scored 6 today but Defoe and his ilk got far too selfish in places.

Jol choked, got a nosebleed at the prospect of beating Chelsea at the bridge.

Why did he take Berbs and Lennon off. Mido was awful, so was Defoe (although that run and shot of the bar was class) I knew they wouldnt see it through.

Credit to Mourinho for being so adventerous, but if they were playing that way against a good team, they would have lost about 6-1.

Well, a game of mixed emotions...

I said on Tuesday that the performance in the 1st half was the worst in the Mourinho era. I think today's 1st half performance beats it with ease though.

The sooner John Terry is back, the better for our sake. 2 of the last 4 goals we've conceded have come right through the middle of our defence Doh For fucks sake, sort it out.

An improved performance 2nd half, although I didn't think we could possibly be any worse. Essien played possibly his worst ever half for us, missing 2 chances to score, and putting through his own net.

Berbatov MOTM. Lampard Chelsea's best player by far. I don't know how much you could see on the TV, but Frank was everywhere today. Defending to attacking, 50 yard runs, challenges, goals, everything. Only Chelsea player who gets a thumbs up from me today. The rest need to take a serious look at themselves.

Wright-Phillips still wastes too many chances, and Robben needs to put crosses in quicker. Ballack had a better 2nd half, but I don't think I saw him touch the ball 1st half. Although Sheva didn't make any "howlers" today, and had some good moments, he was rarely in the game.

Jose also gets a thumbs up from me. I thought he set his team up poorly (no Maka when you have no Terry = Yikes), but he went for broke very early on (suppose he had to really) and got his reward.

Somebody needs to put Paulo Ferreira in front of a firing squad. If he survives, loan him out to Millwall.

How on earth Riley is still refereeing is also beyond me. Clearly you can hit a player round the head if you're defending in your own penalty box. Thought he ruined what was a great game (not just for us, but for Spurs too).

    Ratings:

Cech 6 - Couldn't do much with the goals, but lack of communication with Essien.
Ferreira 3 - Fuck off, please.
Carvalho 5 - Perhaps his worst performance in a long time. Misses Terry.
Essien 5 - Awful first half, better in the 2nd.
A Cole 5 - Rash, got done by Lennon too many times, although thank god Lennon can't cross for shit.
Diarra 5 - Average, although his positioning for the 3rd Spurs goal was poor.
    Ballack 6 - Anonymous 1st half. Improved 2nd.
Lampard 8 - Only decent performer in the side. His off-the-ball movement was superb (for once), defended well (not in the 1st half though), took his goals well. Only negative is that he doesn't show leadership qualities.
Robben 6 - Must cross earlier.
Drogba 7 - Fairly quiet, but did very well for the 3rd goal.
    Sheva 5 - Did little.

    SUBS:

    Wright-Phillips 6 - Must improve end product.
Boulahrouz 6 - Average. Little to do.
Kalou 7 - Took his goal well. Looked lively.

I think we'll win the replay, although it's another game for the fixture list. Rolling Eyes

I thought Drogba was your best player today, he was a constant pain in the arse for Spurs. You wouldn't have drawn without him that's for sure.

2nd half, yes Drogba was the best player on the park for us. The only reason I gave him a 7 is because I thought he was very poor 1st half (yeah I know he picked up that injury, but he was still very average before receiving the knock).

PS. I don't want to be overcritical of Lennon (or Spurs) because he had Cole on toast (and Spurs were all over us 1st half), but if he wants to break into the England team, he needs to learn how to cross.

    Wright-Phillips too. International quality?... lol!

We should/could've won today......Definetly had the chances, but alot of respect for alot of them for coming through such a physical encounter, after just a day and a half rest from our UEFA Cup match.

What changed it was, Berbatov coming off and after that we just couldn't hold on to the ball in the final third and hence lacked that extra creativty. (Though Berby did look a wee bit tired in the second half, though still was a constant threat to his credit)..

Can't wait for the replay, were we will be much fitter and fresher, plus home advantage...

Good take on the game S4P.... Lampard was a force out there no doubt. His link up play was unselfish and tried to bring everyplayer into the game.
Jol using three CB's at the end makes a team naturally fall back deeper this may of opened the door wider for Chelsea pressing a comeback.
Still an exciting game to watch. <Ale>

Spot on Brian. Sometimes it's nice when we fall behind because then our team have to come out and attack and sometimes it produces some wonderful games (Barcelona, Arsenal in the CC, Porto, Spurs today)

    BERBATOV! BERBATOV! BERBATOV!

What a game. Typical mix of luck and grit from Chelsea, and spurs choking when Berbatov was taken off.

No need to hype either Berbatov or Lennon really, thats as close as any side has come to beating Chelsea at the Bridge in a very long time, and both were an integral part of that. So if people have a problem with giving praise where it due, they can fuck off the miserable cunts Laughing

I dont really think there was one truly outstanding player on either side, just a lot of good performances on the whole. But dont try and tell me he played poorly either- if Tevez went to the Bridge and scored that goal, then proceeded to hold the ball up well and linking up play and you were 3-1 up when he was taken off, you'd be foaming at the mouth about it too. I just think he's a fantastic player to watch and an asset to the English league <Ale>
