    Liverpool Vs PSV

On paper this was the best draw Liverpool could have got, in reality will it prove that way? maybe not, Koeman outwitted Benitez last season with Benfica and he could do it again, however Benitez has insisted that Liverpool will not understimate PSV and I really hope we don't, because PSV are a very good side, OK perhaps they were a little fortunate to beat Arsenal as the Gunners had so many chances but they have a good defence and are one of the top sides in the Dutch league, I think in the away leg the aim will be to try and get a goal of possible to take back to Anfield, a score draw wouldn't be bad, but a win for Liverpool would almost certainly put us through as we saw against Barca, because Liverpool do not concede many at home, I think if Liverpool play as they have been doing then they can definately win in Holland, over two legs it's going to be tough but I expect Liverpool to be in the Semi's.

    Predicted winner: Liverpool

    Roma vs Man U

A very good tie in prospect, Many expect United to win and they will be favorites, however Roma, for me may be the dark horse in this competition, no one expected them to beat Lyon (except me Smile), yet they played very well and scored two great goals, they are very good going forward but their defence can be broken down too easily at times, they are the second best team in Italy so why can't they go further?, United haven't been impressive thus far in Europe, but domestically they are top class, I think if both teams perform to their best United will go through, but do not rule Roma out of this one, they may surprise a fair few.

    Predicted winner: Roma

    Milan vs Bayern

The more attractive team at the moment you have to say is Bayern, they played great football against Madrid and they are a team to fear this year, they may not be the force they were a few years ago with the like of Ballack, but they can still cause major damage, Milan on the other hand always get far in this competition and would love to get to the final again after their painful defeat 2 years ago, to get further they're going to have play better and score more goals because at the moment they aren't scoring enough, IMO they were quite fortunate to beat Celtic and it shows if you defend well against them there's always a chance you will score past them, especially for the attacking style teams.

    Predicted winner: Bayern

    Chelsea Vs Valencia

A game Mourinho probably didn't want, Valencia are the only Spainsh representative left and will want to show the world that they can be as good as Madrid and Barca, they have very very good forwards in Villa and Morientes and of course we know Morientes has punished Chelsea in the past whilst at Monaco, Chelsea are playing well in Europe and players like Sheva and Ballack are coming to life in the competition, I think Chelsea will beat Valencia but onlu just.

    Predicted winner: Chelsea

I've got in my head we're going to Bayern this season. Whether we get further than that I don't know.

But Man United, Bayern, Liverpool, Valencia.

TBH i'd like the semis to be:

    Liverpool vs Chelsea

    United vs Milan

as the final would be great whatever the outcome

    Man Utd vs. Roma
    Liverpool vs. PSV
    Chelsea vs.Valencia
    AC Milan vs. Bayern Munich

Just a prediction but honestly it can go anyway. There are no forgone conclusions here.

AC Milan and Bayern are fairly matched for me as are Chelsea and Valencia.

Man Utd have not set the CL on fire thus far, so maybe it will be there time in the Quarter Finals to turn on the style. Roma have some superb players that will want to prove a point to the rest of Europe.

Liverpool vs. PSV is the battle of the coaches.

Ish. Hopefully Rafa's smart enough not to repeat the same mistakes twice. Koeman's not going to have some tactical master-class prepared. He'll play like Houllier did only with better passers at his disposal.

IMO I'm pretty sure Valencia will go through - only if Albelda is fit. Silva and Angulo/Miguel will have a field day against Diarra and Bridge.

i dunno about Bayern, they are an efficient team with some good players, but they don't really have a matchwinner. Milan have Kaka, Liverpool have Gerrard, Roma have Totti etc. Bayern have ???

A player that is lacking form, but improving, is Schweinsteiger. He is one of those players that can decide matches on his own, e.g. with free kicks, long range shots, corners, crosses and creative play in general.

It's just a matter of time until he is back to full strenght me thinks.

    Yes.

    Deadly goal poacher.

And as Blut said- Schweini is a top player when in form, Lacks experience though.

Milan should also not underestimate the Allianz Arena- its ridiculously intimidating with the crowd right up against the pitch: something they lacked at the old olympiastadion with the track around the pitch

2-3 years ago yes. Nowadays, i'd hardly call Makaay deadly - he misses so much.

My point still stands - Schweini does not compare to Totti/Kaka etc.

Milan played there last season and did fine. They are an experienced side and i doubt they will be too intimidated.

Well, as many "special" players as Milan have, they seem to have more problems scoring away this CL season than Bayern.

Football is a team game. The better team will win at the end. We'll see what happens.

I think Bayern will beat AC but will lose to Man Utd in the semis who will then go on the play and beat Valencia in the final who will have beaten PSV in the semis

bayern haven't filled the void left by Ballack... they need a big matchwinner, it is quite obvious Podolski is not ready yet.

That said, the likes of Makaay, Pizzaro, Schwien, Sali, etc are top quality, and can face any team on an equal footing.

Milan haven't won yet, they are only slight favourites IMO.

That's actually a valid point. The lack of "special players" is less of a problem (that's highly subjective anyway), but Bayern lack a true AM. They didn't really replace Ballack.

They can compensate that with their double pivot formation to a certain degree, but for that formation to work, the wing players have to do the creative work and have to be in form. The full backs need to provide width. While Salihamidciz was MOTM against Real, Schweinsteiger still lacks form. Lahm is not back to his top form yet either. So basically the left side is the weaker side these days, but potentially, it is the strongest.

Once Lahm and Schweini regain their form, the lack of a true AM will be less of a problem for Bayern.

Thanks for the vote of confidence TM, but most people have Valencia as favourites to go through. I don't mind this though (I'm sure Jose wouldn't too).
