Italian squad for the friendly is announced... decent team, with one or two surprises. How can Rosina play, I am pretty sure he is 22... are some overage players allowed??

Italy squad – Goalkeepers: Curci (Roma), Viviano (Brescia)

Defenders: Andreolli (Inter), Chiellini (Juventus), Coda (Udinese), Criscito (Genoa), Mantovani (Chievo), Potenza (Fiorentina), Raggi (Empoli)

Midfielders: De Martino (Udinese), Lazzari (Piacenza), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Nocerino (Piacenza), Padoin (Vicenza), Paonessa (Vicenza), Rosina (Torino)

Attackers: Lupoli (Derby County), Palladino (Juventus), Pazzini (Fiorentina), Pelle` (Cesena), Rossi (Parma)

Looks a strong squad, think it lacks a little bit of experience in some areas in comparison to the English team, but i'm really looking forward to the clash, should be a close game.

Unless Anton plays like he has been for West Ham affraid

Looks good with Young, Agbonlahorand Richardson who can come on and inject something. Derbyshire has looked alright for Blackburn this season too, so he may get a chance.

Depends on the fitness of Nugent - after Lita's recent run of form I suspect he'll get a start.

Just by the fact that you mention 'Arsenal fan' and 'choking'

Its like mentioning 'je' and 'gas chamber' the two on their own are fine but together they have connotations

Italian defence is stronger than most full nation teams. Criscito signed for Juve 5.7m.

What I would hope to see:

    -------------------Curci
    Potenza - Andreolli - Mantovani - Chiellini
De Martino - Montolivo - Rossi - Rosina
    ---------Palladino - Pazzini/Pelle

I wonder why Aquilani isn't there.

Anyways, its way too attacking.... one of Montolivo, Rosina, Rossi or Pelle will probably be benched in favour of a DM or an additional CB (3 man defence moving the fullbacks into the midfield, I think Casiraghi favours it)

While the azzurrini have some good attacking options, the star striker IMO is Palladino... and the most creative attacking player is Rosina.

    Rossi is pretty good too.

Montolivo is the star! But your lineup is too attacking, G - there is a void in the midfield. Exciting, but not realistic.

    Will Rossi start?

I remember Cassaraghi raving about him after his debut, so I think he likes him and he he seems to be doing a good job for Parma.

Should be a good game, who are the other Italians, to look out for?

Casiraghi has a spoil of talents upfornt, its a tough choice... as gigliati correctlypointed out, even I cannot make up my mind and ended up putting all of them in Wink

Palladino is a brilliant prospect, one of the most exciting young strikers in Italy. IMO, Palladino >> Pazzani & Lupoli, most in Italy would agree. He should start as the target man. To put it in context, Palladino starts ahead of Bojinov in the Juventus pecking order. Lupoli may get a favour since the game is in England, and its a friendly - this may be a good testing ground for him.

Pelle can be a great support striker, and Rossi is another - tho with different styles. Thats a toss up, I suspect both will play a half each. So I am not sure whether Rossi will start, but he will play a role, thats for sure. Specially since the game is in England.

I would love to see Rosina on the left in an attacking role - he is the most talented of the lot for me.

Gigliati, going by his avatar, will probably say its Montolivo. But he can be biased on this issue Wink

But that kind of sums up Azzurrini's attacking options, these are the best players.

Potenza and Chiellini are exciting full backs, while Andreolli is considered by many nerazzurri as the next Chivu. Mantovani is a pretty decent defender as well, with the most Serie A experience. But with Donadel graduated, and Aquilani not available, there seems to be a hole in the central midfield... I am not sure who will play there.

Cheers its about time the Italians had some new young attacking players come through as since Delps/Totti they really havent had anyone. Cassano had potential but he doesnt have the right attitude to match his ability.
